The answer somewhat depends on what you purchase. When you purchase Band-in-a-Box the amount of audio material you receive is dependent on the package you purchase. The Pro and Mega Paks include some, but not all, of the audio resources. The UltraPlus Pak, Everything Pak and Audiofile edition contain all the audio resources.

A search of my 2016 UltraPlus Pak indicates I have 377 of 388 Funk styles so there are plenty of Funk styles to choose from.

You indicated you last used BiaB "about 10 years ago". In 2006 BiaB did not include RealTracks, RealDrums, midi SuperTracks or loops. Many of the RealTracks and RealDrums have simple variations that are not so busy. You can use a checkbox to have, or not have cymbal crashes. Many of the guitar and bass RealTracks have direct input variations so you can add your own effects to the signal chain.
