Well, as my summer/fall aerial video work is coming to a close I find myself fully renewed and excited to start writing again...both professionally and to simply write what moves me.

I want to thank all of you that post your works for the rest of us to hear. I'm fairly certain you have NO idea, or maybe forget how much it inspires someone who isn't making music.

Many times in life music music scores and directly reflects how we feel. Sometimes when there are no words, there is simply the emotion of music to express and connect with others or even to ourselves.

To take a vacation can bring excitement to you life.

It can break up the monotony of taking something, someone, or somewhere for granted.

It also, many times, has you longing for "home"...whatever that may be for you.

So music while I love you, I needed to miss you wink

...there may, ironically, be a song in there somewhere.

Hello HearToLearn,

Thank you for your post! This is something that I need to hear right now. As of late I have found myself slow dancing with musical inertia.

On the topic of creativity I have been finding some wonderful insights from Elizabeth Gilbert's new book Big Magic. Highly recommend it. http://www.elizabethgilbert.com/

This resonates with me. I've always had a tenuous love/hate relationship with music. I make a terrible husband to lady music as my lack of commitment, understanding and a shallow sense of ambition drives my relationship to the deepest pits of genuine country music lyrics.

When a moment of focus pops up, I immerse myself and can spend 10 hours straight working on a project. Another moment of focus may not come for weeks or a month. Yet I think about music constantly. Mixing, writing, playing ...

I spent a wonderful week in Nashville with my late brother Harold in 1998 visiting studios, meeting writers, producers, musicians and singers. We spent time together talking and recording original music; All to 'inspire' me to begin writing and playing again.

BIAB has been the best therapy I've found so far.

I think many people can relate to what you said...well, maybe not the writing in Nashville with your brother (sorry to hear of your loss).

It seems like even the greats have moments where they either don't write, or write mechanically.

I've burned out on other things from pushing beyond what I enjoyed for too long.

Now I'm trying to live more in seasons of my endeavors, and finding I really like it! It just feels like exactly what I said. I needed to miss it. Right now, flying drones is what I will need to miss for a while wink Come spring, I won't be able to stop myself from getting out there!

Thanks for commenting. Honestly, it's nice to know there are others. You may read about it in an interview, or from the grapevine...but it's a world of difference to hear a "me too!" directly from someone. Thanks so much for that!

Oddly, I'm taking a break from flying my drone as well. Had a lot of requests to do flyovers over flooded areas these past few weeks.

I did not take any footage as I would have to be credentialed by the govt/NG folks to gain access to the areas so I declined the requests. I did not go through that process. Thus the comment of taking a break from flying the drone. I checked my roof for blown shingles and the drainage ditches on the farm just after the storm...

I did d/l some of the approved drone footage of downtown Fair Bluff, NC.

They opened the roads through Nichols, SC (my hometown) late this afternoon. We drove through tonight and the stench of mold, bad food, wet furniture was horrific. We put the car a/c on interior flow to block the exterior air from entering the car.
