That's an interesting question, Whisper.

The answer is Yes. There are several ways to do it.

You would want to write your song only in the Melody and Soloist tracks, since any other track is generated by BIAB and will overwrite anything you put there if you press Play, or if you save and load the song. The SEQ button can open up additional channels.

As for the styles, there is not a "silent" style to my knowledge (would make a good Wishlist item) but you can accomplish it several ways. One way is simply to mute the other instruments (several ways to do this; let us know if you need to know how) or set their volume to zero. Another way is to make a Hybrid style using the supplied style called BLANK.STY and select that style for each of the other instruments besides Melody and Soloist.

There may well be other ways.

Real Band (a sequencer) may be more appropriate for what you want, with unlimited MIDI tracks you can use as you please. Or even a notation program. I compose directly in BIAB because I love the ease of data entry. Then I take the composition into a sequencer and/or a notation program as appropriate.
