It's amazing what pops up from somebody else's MGU file.
I've only wasted a good half hour messing with this until I discovered that the song somehow has blocked all plugin access.
How the $%^&#@ can that happen? First, this is an all midi file. I wanted to load ST3 for the drum track and no matter what I did, I only heard my default Forte DXi. I was about to post a question just concerning why won't ST3's drums play when I thought I would mess with the 10 band EQ using the Forte drums. No effect. Hmmmm. Let's try the bass, that's really obvious. I loaded the 10 band EQ and boosted the lower freq's to the max and no effect.
I went to another song and all the plugs work fine. Go back to the original one and nada.
How can this be? Is this file so old that you cannot invoke any plugs with it?

Have you tried 'Save As' to see if you could create a good working copy?
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Yep, that's the first thing I did. I also closed and reopened Biab just in case.
It's amazing how we just hum along doing our thing and...zoink! Where did this come from?
It's not some critical project or anything, just me messing around on a Saturday afternoon, but it's certainly curious and I thought I'd post it.
Here's another anomaly. The song is a standard 4 bar intro and the verse starts on bar 5. For some reason the author put a part marker on bar 4 so there is the normal gray bar on the first row after bar 3. I can change it to bar 5 so it's the first bar on the second row but it won't stick. As soon as I hit play the part marker shifts back to bar 5. I've tried saving it for that too and it doesn't matter.
It's like this file has some embedded midi instructions that is overriding Biab but it is definitely an MGU file. I know about stripping instructions from midi files but is there some hidden procedure for that using Biab files?

Bob,
I haven't come across this behaviour before but I have had a couple of MGU files do strange things. Opening the file in Realband and then saving it with a new name helped.
It's worth a try.

Sounds like the file may be Read Only.
Or not, but try R-click, show properties.
