I use midi a lot these days as the versatility you get with being able to make changes to just about everything from note pitch to note length, velocity etc., gives total flexibility.

Midi sometimes gets a bit of a bad press unfairly as midi is just the instructions sent to the instrument to make the sounds so the sound quality of midi depends on what it is playing through rather than the fact it is midi itself.

There are some very good vst instruments out there that will make your midi sound great.

Combining them with realtracks or other midi / vst sounds every bit as good to my ears.
