http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/mad.gifHelp! I have suddendly lost Midi files sound in BiaB and cannot understand what is going on: My set up in BiaB has not changed and both Audio files (Real Tracks) and midi files (MGUs) are working (playing) fine. Only the (exterior) midi files do not do the job. They are working (there are loaded) and "play" (the cursor is moving normally within the chord sheet) but no sound... The same ("exterior midi")files are "playing" normally (with sound) when loaded through an other program (Irfan View for ex.). Aaarrgh! I understand I will have set(or undone) some obscure point in the preferences but cannot find which. I use a Ketron (SD2) in my set up and can therefore play midi directly through the Ketron or set my internal VSTis (Forte). In both cases, (Midi) MGUs work, Midi files dont... Any ideas out there? Bernard

Bernard,
By "exterior" midi files, I take it to mean those that you've picked up from the internet. Is this correct? Is it a particular midi file or is it all midi files?
As a test, could you try opening one of the midi files in Realband and see if it plays there.
Regards, Noel

Yes, exactly! I mean Midi files (MID File) coming from internet... and... bingo! the same file not sounding in BiaB works perfectly in Real Band (and I have tried it again with the same file in BiaB after RB)... Aaarghh! Does not tell me however what the Heck did I do "wrong" in BiaB... Any idea where i could put my nose into? Bernard

I presume that when you said MGU files play okay, you mean that it plays fine with a MIDI only style (to make sure the MIDI part plays). Presuming that MIDI styles play fine, have you made sure that the melody track is not muted or the volume down? MIDI files brought into BIAB reside (albeit in a multichannel format) on the melody track.
Also, when you load a MIDI file, the style is disabled. You can enable a style, but you also run the potential of channel conflict between the imported MIDI file and the channels used by the BIAB tracks.
Perhaps posting an MGX file (BIAB saves files with imported multichannel MIDI as MGX files) with the imported MIDI may help us better troubleshoot your problem.

No, cant be that, because when I open BiaB, all instruments are basically "on", and I only mute some for a specific operation within my work... (OK, I have checked it anyway, not to look too stupid afterwards!)... Buuut You, john took me to the solution (and that is the nice thing in this forum, exchange brings often a solution).
I have opened the sequencer button (sequencer/sequencer on melody) and see, all instruments from the midi file are there all right... Only all unchecked! Checking them all brings life back in my drawing room: works!
In a second run (a new loaded midi file came again with no sound with all instruments unchecked again) I checked the box "load/save channel data" and everything works now as it should. Thanks to all for the advice sent to me before I would go nuts. file closed! Bernard
