Most Kontakt basses adjust perfectly to the midi supertracks. In these, the bass part is down one octave compared to regular styles.. Sadly, some good libraries like Corebass Pear do not receive the proper command and playing jukebox mode (a great way to practice) leaves you frustrated. Why is the bass lower in supertracks? And how can i fix this problem?

Hi Dzjang, If you'd like the bass to be an octave higher, have a look under "Options | Preferences" and then click on the "Channels" button. Once the MIDI window opens, change the Bass "Octave" setting from -1 to 0 (or from 0 to +1)... that will raise it one octave. Regards, Noel

Thanks. I dig the solution, but changing it means changing it for every tune. I just think it's no fun having to change the settings in between songs. It would make live playing or practice easier if this weren't necessary.

Perhaps this would work. If there is nothing in the Melody or the Soloist track, copy the bass there, adjust the octave (by menu or hot key), save it, and mute the bass track (or better, save it with a volume of zero). Then your song is ready for live play.

Bass and guitar are written an octave higher then they sound. Some MIDI tracks export as the raised octave while others do not. Some MIDI sound sources expect the incoming MIDI track to be an octave higher while others expect it to be the actual notes, that is not transposed up an octave. Apparently this MIDI bass track is in the original pitch and your other bass sounds do the transposing. But your Corebass Pear is in the original pitch and does not transpose.
But you can correct this in Kontakt. Load Corebass Pear, click on the upper left corner wrench then click on instrument options. In the MIDI window raise the pitch by 12, one octave, and do a batch resave I would use a different name if possible. Now when you load that resaved patch it will play just fine.
I hope this isn't too confusing and it helps.

While it is not difficult to adjust an instrument by an octave; however, I think the OP was looking for something that allowed jukebox mode to work, so you can just play one song after another, rather than adjusting each song as you load it.

I agree, and suggested the song be modified and saved in advance.

Indeed, here we have the same problem. The midi supertrack sounds right and now the next song, incidentally an "older" style, sounds bad, cause the bass plays in the guitar octave...
So, I can't adjust the bass part and save it just for this song. So, I still wonder why the bass plays in a different octave for supertracks and styles. That's an unnecessary complication.

Not sure why it's off by an octave, but I do know that MIDI Supertracks are processed by a different MIDI engine than standard MIDI style tracks.
Also, there are different interpretations as to what Middle C is (is it C3, C4, or C5 - depends on the keyboard you use). Middle C is note 60, but different keyboard manufactures and different audio library publishers define where C0 is differently, which can result in being an octave off.
I have seen the opposite of what you are experiencing, where different sound libraries play the same note in different octaves. The problem is that there isn't universal agreement here.
But PGMusic would have to answer specifically why this difference.

Indeed Jford, I had the same experience with the Ableton Bass library. The Fender bass is an octave higher than the Hofner, called Bofner for copyright reasons. So, switching instruments forces you to transpose. I never thought of it being a lack of standardised "middle C"... but I experienced this before. Since I believe Band in a box is the most used they should stick to the same standard within their own "ecosystem". In this way they would at least set a standard for themselves. Makes it easier for us practicing musicians.
