Well, the plugin window will no longer open if you minimized it (upper right hand corner minus sign). If you close it (upper right hand corner x), it will reopen. If you forget you have to restart biab to be able to access it. This occurred in win 8 and now in win 10. And it's been so since biab 2012. Is frustrating for those who still use midi. Don't hold it against us: with a lot of tweaking and some mild scripting there are wonderful Kontakt libraries out there, especially in the drum department. If you don't dig the abbey road drum kits, then there's something wrong with you

Huh?? If you minimize it, it just becomes minimized. Does yours do this, or something else?
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
Alas, not so in win 8 and 10. And, to be sure, I mean the window that has your plugin visible. It's the same window but with your kontakt plugins. If you close it, you can open your vst window again. If it's minimized your pop up plugin window disappears instead of being minimally visible or as an active window in the taskbar.
Could it be a "systems" setting? Or some difficult to find setting in biab?

The reported problem is not repeatable on Windows 10 here:

Ok, great. Do let us know if this resolves. I would be keen to find out if your system does something different, as this would probably affect others also.

Screen resolution higher than 1600x... makes the minimized window disappear. 1600x800 works, though the default resolution for the Asus Taichi 31 is 1920x1080. Doesn't look too bad though. It's acceptable. I went in the direction of the dwm.exe, messing things up, but didn't work, so screen resolution solves the problem....

This is interesting, because it's the Operating System that does the minimizing, not BiaB. In the cases described here, it minimizes out of view.
If you (temporarily) change the resolution, does it then appear at the bottom of the form?

You must be a bit of a genius. Here's what happens...
1. Start BIAB
2. Open VST Plugins or Synth settings and minimise.
3. The minimised settings disappears.
4. If I wait, nothing happens.
5. If I refresh the screen, nothing happens... still disappeared.
6. When I change the resolution the icon sometimes appears. I haven't worked out how to make it consistently appear yet. It seems to pop up when the task bar hides.
Hi Trev, You must be a bit of a genius. Here's what happens... Noel
Well, I'd like to think that 'genius' were the case, but regardless, I do assure you I'm humbled by your response .
In step 6, you state: "When I change the resolution the icon sometimes appears". We would both agree that the word 'sometimes' is somewhat enigmatic in a troubling sort of way. Why would it do this 'sometimes'.
I hope Kent is across this and can shed some light.
I'm sure it will be resolved, and thanks again for your feedback. Let's both keep an eye out for the solution.
Thanks again for the very kind feedback

I wonder if this has something to do with the changes recently made to the VSTi window to accommodate the larger VSTi screen real-estate (such as SampleTank 3 or the new Aria player).

Noel, which build are you using? I think I remember seeing something like this happening with older builds, but I haven't seen it happen lately, and can't get it to happen with build 438.
It's normal that Alt-Tab isn't finding it, by the way. The VST window is still part of Band-in-a-Box, and when it minimizes, it goes to the bottom-left of the Band-in-a-Box window, not to the Taskbar like a second application would.
The only way I can get the minimized VST window to not be visible is if it's being covered by the Lead Sheet window.
I'm currently testing the latest pre-release update (439/3). I'm out for the next couple of hours. When I get back, I'll reload 438 and see if the problem still occurs. I'll also see if I can work out how to change the above "sometimes" that Trev noted into "all the time".
@Kent @Noel, the screen resolution and the issue described by me and Noel are certainly OS related and hardware related. I believe that there is a reslution that makes it work. Since Kent has it working fine with 1680x1050 and on my PC it won't work, that seems to prove it. @Jford, you might have a point. When I open the Vst window in the "wrong resolution" the window is small and doesn't display the whole Kontakt window. But in a lower resolution where the window doesn't disappear on minimizing my vst window takes the whole screen and displays the Kontakt interface just fine.

I've changed to build 438 and the problem still exists. With my higher resolution setting, the minimised window doesn't appear. If I change to a lower resolution, it will appear after the task bar auto-hides.
Then, if I switch back to the higher resolution, the minimised VST window is still there. As long as I do not close BIAB, the behaviour of the minimise option is fine. Next time I start BIAB, though, I need to go through the resolution change process again.
Pipeline: Hovering over BIAB in the task bar didn't seem to show anything other than the chord sheet.
