proably me but i couldn't find a like for what's new and what's improved in realband 2017 I think most of the changes this time were in BIAB, but some of them are applicable to RB as well... 1) Sforsanzo (sp?) soft synth now gives you another player for MIDI and sound fonts. 2) we finally have a way to make SEQ files the default save-to file format in RB... no more opening a BIAB track, making lots of DAW-type changes, then accidentally saving in the original BIAB format that doesn't support the features you just added 3) A variety of bug fixes... here's a partial list of things that were fixed or added: ADDED: A rapid notation entry mode has been added for piano and guitar music. Veritcal yellow line makes time line more visible when editing notation. ADDED: RealBand now remembers previous width & height when saving notation as image. ADDED: RealBand notation now has a checkbox to keep ratio the same when changing width or height in Save image dialog. ADDED: Tap tempo has been enhanced. Now as you type more than 4 times. The accuracy will improve (through averaging) and you can continue to tap until the target tempo has been reached. ADDED: Mixer has been enhanced with double click option to set the mixer values to defaults. ADDED: 'Default to .SEQ format when saving a file' checkbox in File Preferences which will make RB default to .SEQ format when saving the current song, even if the current song was originally another format such as .MID or .SGU FIXED: Notes not sounding when clicking on the guitar window FIXED: Notes sent from guitar win to notation win were incorrectly set to the channel of the next lowest string FIXED: Gain nodes in a track with the pattern of a square wave were not changing the level correctly FIXED: XML timing issues when importing certain files containing grace notes (which are now correctly set to invisible notes without affecting the notation timing, until we eventually support display in a later version) FIXED: crash when choosing a Hi-Q patch, or style that uses one. FIXED: any problems that involve having MME playback started FIXED: flash message "MIDI Playback (if any) will be silent because no MIDI Out driver is selected. This message shows only once per session." there's more, but I'm old and doing the best I can with my 3 remaining brain cells.

thanks pat my 2017 download is complete and installed and i can report that from the RealBand 2017 New Features Guide.pdf There are over 50 new features in RealBand 2017
Summary List of New Features RealTracks have been enhanced with better tempo stretching and pitch shifting (Elastique 3), better phrase transitions, Natural Arrangements option for more natural playing, faster opening of the RealTracks Picker, better tempo swapping, demo volume control, and more. The media player control now has a volume control in various dialogs like RealTracks, RealDrums, Loops, and UserTracks Picker. If the demos are too loud/soft relative to your other music, you can independently control this. sforzando SFZ synth has been added/included. Tempo pitch shifting and tempo stretching has been greatly enhanced with the integration of the newest version of the world-leading Elastique 3. 12-Key RealTracks and Hi-Q Guitar RealCharts on tab/notation are included. VST Tempo Sync has been enhanced for plugins like Addictive Drums, Rapid Composer, EZ drummer, and Jamstix. Song Titles Browser has been added. Sort/filter by title, key, tempo, feel, time signature, decade, etc. The StylePicker has been enhanced with User Categories, prototype style, custom memo, sort display, action button, instrument summary, loops/UserTracks display, and more. Natural Arrangements option has been added. There are many UserTracks enhancements including 3/4 waltz, rests, timebase (half/double/triple-time), no transpose, ignore slash chords, and UserTracks display in StylePicker. Music XML (notation export/import) has been enhanced. We’ve worked with Finale, GuitarPro and Sibelius to enhance features and compatibility with Music XML. For example, we now read/write more chord types as well as guitar tab, bends, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides from/to XML. Notation has been enhanced with guitar bends, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slide with graphics, rapid notation entry mode, yellow timeline, and quicker forced accidentals entry. RealBand now remembers previous width & height when saving notation as image. RealBand notation now has a checkbox to keep ratio the same when changing width or height in Save image dialog. RealScore Chords font is now selectable on the Notation Window fonts menu. RealDrums has been enhanced with faster opening of the RealDrums Picker and demo volume control. Loops have been improved with rests and timebase (half/double/triple-time). Tap tempo has been enhanced. Now, when you type more than 4 times, the accuracy will improve (through averaging) and you can continue to tap until the target tempo has been reached. Mixer has been enhanced with double click option to set the mixer values to defaults. The Video Window has been enhanced with better playback of mp4 files and improved sync between video and audio. Gain nodes are supported (for audio tracks and DXi/VSTi tracks). Gain nodes allow for an increase or decrease in dB without the volume slider moving up/down during playback. (Note: These major features were added in mid 2016, and enhanced in 2017.) Support for early endings when importing MGU and SGU files. Volume, pan, and chorus automatically set back to defaults before creating a new song, or for any blank tracks when loading in a song. “Default to .SEQ format when saving a file” checkbox in File Preferences makes RealBand default to .SEQ format when saving the current song, even if the current song was originally another format such as .MID or .SGU. And more! See the full list below.

We were spoiled this past year. VSTi timing was given to us for free mid-year, though basic implementation. Jamstix etc
This new release added time signature support and other additional improvements for this 'free upgrade'. This is one of the 'under the radar' improvements I noticed.
2017: "VST sync has been enhanced. In late 2016, we added much requested support for VSTs that require tempo information to sync to. This has been enhanced with support for time signature and tempo changes. Many VSTs like Addictive Drums, or Rapid Composer need this tempo information to sync .. "
FTR, you don't buy RB, you buy RB AND BiaB. I don't think many upgraded the whole package just for RB features. RTs are usually considered BiaB features, though they also apply to RB too, so that is often worth the upgrade alone. Remember; many of the BiaB features (not specific to RB) still apply to RB with the upgrade.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
