The install program seems to want to install this to
C:\program Files\..... etc,
my question is that i want to run BIAB from the ext HDD,
so where do i need to point the files to install to.

The first time you access the hard drive, double-click on Setup.exe. This will set up any files that need to be installed/registered on your computer. You only need to do this once.
Then you can run Band-in-a-Box and RealBand directly from the hard drive by using the program shortcuts in the PG Music folder located on the hard drive.
Right click on each Band-in-a-Box and RealBand program shortcuts then select the "send" option to copy each program to your desktop.

Hmmm sorry my bad thought I made my self clear.
I am installing the 2017 hi q instruments exe. I have already installed the BIAB program.
The hi q instruments exe is asking me where to place the files, and it is not pointing to the external E drive, but to the standard C drive.
So my question is not yet answered.
Sorry if I caused any confusion.

Simply install them where you want them (mine are buried four folders down on my internal D drive) BIAB will find them
ALSO before FIRST use of these HI-Q sounds don't assume BIAB added the SForzando VSTi into its Plug-ins list so make sure you add the sforzando VSTi (wherever you told that to install) to your VSTi list in BIAB

The hi q instruments exe is asking me where to place the files, and it is not pointing to the external E drive, but to the standard C drive. Just adjust to the external drive. I did exactly that, so I know it will allow you to change the locations of the files.

Just to clarify, while you can install them to a non-default location as others have said, if you DO install them to the default location which is C:\Program Files.... that will still work (even when running BB from the external hard drive.)
