Waitresses

A tongue in cheek (at least I think it is) song about waitresses.

Leon - Lyric & Vocal
Me - Guitar & Vocal

The Band

RealTracks in style: 604:Guitar, Electric, Chet Comp Ev 130

Waitresses

I went down to the bluebird café
For some coffee and some scrambled eggs
I had a problem, I’m sorry to say
Keeping my eyes off the waitress’s legs
Tried to concentrate on my coffee
Tried to concentrate on my book
But my mind seemed to have a will of its own
And you know where it wanted to look

I’ve got this thing about waitresses
I know it’s crazy and it’s queer
But I can’t resist a woman in an apron with a pencil behind her ear
I’ve got this thing about waitresses
Just can’t resist their allure
Must be some kind of group I can join
Get some therapy and find a cure

I went down to the bluebird café
Get me some coffee and some scrambled eggs
I spent my time, I’m embarrassed to say
Staring at the waitress’s legs
She had those big, dark sparkling eyes
And she smiled when she brought my meal
I had a hard time convincing myself
There was nothing that I should feel

I’ve got this thing about waitresses
Just can’t resist their allure
Must be some kind of group I can join
Get some therapy and find a cure
Must be some kind of group I can join
Get some therapy and find a cure
Must be some kind of group I can join
C’mon Doctor help me find a cure

I really like the elements in the music that have the same sassy feel as the lyrics. The horns, the guitar licks. Very enjoyable.

Peter,

This is hilarious! Great truth er.. I mean comedy in those lyrics wink
Love the brass section and the doubled/harmony vocals on the chorus.

Neat guitar solo and octave guitars.

Great job,
Jez

Peter,

Good fun- nice idea for a song. The humour comes through in the vocal and arrangement ( the laconic style reminds me a little of the great Dan Hicks).
Yeah, sign me up for that group!

This is a lot of fun Peter!! Very clever and well put together. Since you're in Australia, I'm not sure if you know about the famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. It's where the big time songwriters sing their songs to a small but eager crowd. Never been there myself but hope to go someday. Really liked this! Take care. Greg

Hello, Peter & Leon

Very nice and funny country song.
Good vocal and the horns also work well.
Love the lyrics.
I understand so well "Keeping my eyes off the waitress’s legs"
I sometimes have the same problem at our local coffee shop.
Very enjoyable listen.

Best Regards.

Hahahaha....Janice just said "this song gives me happy feet!" There's a lot
of goodness happening here...clever well written lyric, cool vocals and a
great arrangement that includes the perfect complement of your guitar
and the horns.

And the imagery is wonderful...begs for a video.

Kudos to the two of you!!

Yes. This is a fun song and lyrics very clever and clear. It certainly conjures up a few images and the overall feel of the song fits well.

Great production.
