Just got SonoKinetic Ostinato String sample library free! (usual price is 99 euros). You get both Kontakt Player and full Kontakt versions. Be quick though as they have limited numbers. Yes it's 50% off now instead of free. well I missed free (that's what I get for not staying glued here -  ) While it looks great, sounds good, I've got so many strings now I'm hard pressed to pull trigger on this unless Euro collapses in next few hours. its appears to be similar (I did not say the SAME) to EzKeys in concept but for stings which is a lot harder for non-orchestrators to come to grips with than piano or guitar comping. Just need similar thing for woodwinds and brass I'm debating - JOHN hurry up and install and tell me I GOT TO HAVE  Larry

Larry, I left it downloading this morning. You have to use their download manager, and it's kind of slow. So when I get home from work, I'll unpack the compressed files and give it a go.

Lol, just catching up with all your news Larry! I agree the download manager thing wasn't obvious and the download slow but at least it supports resuming. It does sound lovely and fills a niche not covered by anything else I have. I like the look of their Sotto Library so will definitely keep an eye out for that going in the sale. Not such a great offer today - Bells and Whistles (Cartoon and Animation Sound Effect Instruments Sample Library). Does look like fun though for 10 euros  Jez

So I got it running. It works pretty well (but I really need to read the accompanying manual, because there were some non-intuitive things in the interface, but hey, I was just clicking).
It sounded pretty good to my ears (the 16-bit files are about 5GB of sounds and the 24 bit files are about 10 GB of sounds). You get different string rhythms (shots, two eighths, eight and two sixteenths, four sixteenths, etc). Similar I guess to NI Session Strings.
Looks like you can either play all the notes for specific chords in the lower range, or single note chords in the upper range on the keyboard (C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, etc).
Like I said, I'll have to read the manual to get a better understanding of it. But the price (for me) was definitely right.

Yes there are some weird or should I say non-standard controls on the main GUI. One interesting fact is that you can change every single key chords to a different form of that chord. In other words if you play the notes A,G,F,E you will get Am, G, F, Em but you can change the chords to Am, F, F, E7 very easily. 7ths, Aug, Dim etc chords are available.
I am trying to find out how I can change chord inversions. I'll hit the docs again after this weekend.

I have bought so many music libraries in the sales that I think I will be spending most of January reading up on them! After a further play this afternoon there is a small information button labelled "i" near the orange circle towards the middle/bottom of the UI. If you click that it overlays information about what the various areas do.
The blue keys let you enter "chord shapes" in triads, the 1st octave yellow/red keys control the pattern for the bass clef, the 2nd octave for the treble clef (unless they are linked by clicking the big upward arrow), and the green keys 1 key chords.
The mod wheel can also be used to control the volume of treble/bass instruments if the semi-circle symbol top left on each clef is enabled. The black keys with the power on/off symbol can be used to disable the bass clef.
