Does anyone know a way to delete lyrics from a BIAB file? Also just noticed that when you have a song open with lyrics they stay even when you do "File - New" function.
I have raised this problem, or similar to, some time ago and support admit there is a problem.
Noel has also been looking at this for me and I sent him some files where it was not possible to delete the lyrics.
In my case, the problem is with files which have line-based lyrics. You can use the functions above to delete them but the line-based lyrics remain, and you get a message advising of their existence every time you open the file.
You can still add note-based lyrics but the line-based lyrics remain.
I would really like to know how the programmers are going in trying to remove this bug. I suspect from what Noel says that it still remains in the 2017 version.
Have you tried this. There is a command to convert line based lyrics to bar based lyrics. Then, once converted, delete the bar based lyrics (or use them, whichever). Just a thought.
From the user manual:
Quote:
In the previous versions, there were line-based lyrics, which could be entered for each line on the Notation Window. You can no longer enter this type of lyrics, but if your existing song has line-based lyrics, Band-in-a-Box can convert them to bar-based-lyrics. This option allows you to choose how the conversion should occur when the song with line-based lyrics opens. The default is “Always (auto-split),” which will convert line-based lyrics to bar-based lyrics and splitting them into 4 bars. If you choose “Always (don’t split),” line-based lyrics will be converted but they won’t be split into 4 bars. You can also choose not to convert line-based lyrics automatically. If the current song has line-based lyrics, you can press the [Convert now] button to convert them to bar-based lyrics.

John,
I tried the above with Graham's files and it didn't help.
One potential solution is to open the song in Realband and then save it as a MGU/SGU. Since RB doesn't recognise line-based lyrics, this seems to strip them from the file.
When I last tried it, RB also deleted any melody when saving as MGU. Once this is resolved, I suspect that using RB will be the way to remove line-based lyrics.

From the user manual: etc.
Yes, I did try that but the line-based lyrics remain, as Noel and Kent from PG Music have acknowledged in response to my other topic on this subject. I guess my problem is that, like many other Band-in-a-Box users, I am really not interested in bar-based lyrics. I only want proper lead sheets with note-based lyrics. I think it is wrong to be assuming that a lot of people will want to convert to bar-based lyrics but it is of course good for those that do want this. And I will admit that the presence of the line-based lyrics does not prevent me from entering fresh note-based lyrics but the annoying message about the existence of line-based lyrics remains and maybe there are other problems with having two forms of lyrics in a file?
