Yes, neither MME nor two different ASIO drivers - ASIO4ALL and the dedicated FocusRite ASIO - permitted me to trigger my softsynth while transport was inactive (and they all DID trigger it when transport WAS active.)

But I didn't have Noel's steps 2, 3, and 5 configured as he shows, so I'll repeat tests and report back if the results change. I don't understand why they should, though (as I think Larry implies). And anyway, I want to use a softsynth of my choosing, not that prairie dog thingy. Then again, maybe I misunderstand what those steps 2&3 actually accomplish.

BTW, if BB were programmed to use the Win10 WASAPI interface (as the major DAWs are doing), WIN 10 users might not have the MME latency issue that's been widely reported in the past.
