Using Reaper, I first set the tempo, key and number of bars, then save it. Then I import my BIAB/RB tracks. They line up exactly to the same bar numbers as BIAB. Count In, Into and all. So rather than relying on Actual Time I go by Bar Number. Does Audacity allow you to set these parameters before importing the track/s?
Often I'll import a full mix in stereo or mono onto one track just to experiment with what I want to record along with it. If the accompaniment (BIAB tracks) are not exactly what I want I edit them, usually holds, pushes, rests, etc,... then import the stereo mix again. Eventually I import individual tracks and delete the temporary stereo mix.
