Just a minor annoyance, and it's not caused by BIAB, but please notice how hard it is to mouse click now on the left end of the scroll bar in the Notation Window without hitting the stupid Start button. The new Windows 7 Start button is just enough bigger that it cuts into the scroll bar.
I don't know what the BIAB remedy might be, except perhaps to make the BIAB scroll bar thicker/taller. I can make the Taskbar an extra row taller, which contains the full Start button, but then I lose a row of my display for nothing special.
Perhaps other applications will have the same problem, and a software company to software company chat would be helpful. I'm pretty sure I could still hit a smaller Start button that stayed in its own space on one row.

I do - previously I've asked for proper scalable windows - I reckon this would resolve the problem.

Ah - good point. Thanks.
Lawrie, you must have the latest Windows 7 version. Do you agree this Start button is annoying? Already today, after making the first post above, I hit the Start button by accident three times.

G'day Matt, I'm still running XP mate, need the reliability. That said, my next PC will have 64 bit Win7 AND the XP-SP3 virtual Machine addin. Need a new box anyhow...
I do NOT like the vista-esque user interface, which Win7 also has. m$ have royally screwed it up as far as I'm concerned. The management and control applets are illogical and hard to work through. I'll get used to it eventually I 'spose...

Thanks.
I actually like everything about Windows 7 except this little quirk.

Hey Lawrie -
I didn't like the Vista differences when I first started using it, but I've found for many things (but not all) that the more I use them, the more they actually make sense. The problem often turns out to be merely that they were different from the way I worked in XP for so many years. I suspect it's similar to trying to learn a new playing technique on our instruments with our muscle memory fighting us every step of the way, until we finally "get it", and then realize the value of the new technique.
By the way, regardless of operating system, I agree that properly scalable windows would be a better way to go.

G'day John, up to a point you're probably right - the best thing is what I'm used to (E.G. I REALLY hate the Office 2k7 "ribbon"), but I get most irritated when I have to hack the registry to make changes that I used to be able to do from control panel applets. Case in point - how do you change your default MIDI synth in vista/Win7? Can't use the control panel applet (MIDI Mapper) 'cos it ain't there. You HAVE to hack the registry directly (there are some 3rd party tools these days) just because m$ decided they didn't want you to change your synth - stoooopid! In fact the whole audio subsystem has been hacked around so much I'm surprised it works at all. In an attempt to improve efficiency but maintain backward compatibility they have actually made things worse - and that *DAMN* volume control applet... I prefer device based management NOT application based. Other changes to network interface and protocol management - it is now extremely difficult to manage the NIC's and protocol stack(s) in comparison to the old way. Extra levels to navigate through and no logic to it. The aero UI uses sooo much CPU power and other resources that you can noticeably improve your systems performance just by turning it off - how dopey is that? Why create a UI that is significantly less efficient for a little bit of eye candy that most people don't really care about anyhow? If i'd wanted a Mac I'da bought a Mac. I do NOT want my windows box to try to be a Mac. I especially don't want to be as divorced from the ability to manage the box as a Mac makes me. Some 6 or 8 years ago m$ bailed Apple out with a $300 Million infusion of funds - the joke around the traps was that m$ didn't want to lose their R&D department - not so funny now that the vista/Win7 UI is the result... /rant

I could, but I don't want to.
Actually, I found a fix for this. I changed the Theme to Windows Classic. Now I have a rectangular Start button no higher than one row in the Taskbar.
