As best as I can tell (although PGMusic would have to confirm it), PowerTracks is pretty much exactly the same as RealBand except for the BIAB-related features. However, that being said, PowerTracks does support RealDrums and it can extract a melody and/or soloist track (since those aren't generated by styles, but contain static data) from a BIAB file.
I have both, because sometimes I'm just doing audio / MIDI editing without any BIAB features and the interface for PowerTracks is a little less cluttered in that regard. Both programs can open SEQ files; however, in PowerTracks any BIAB generated tracks from RealBand will just be static tracks (like the black tracks in RealBand) in PowerTracks and you can't regenerate the track. Both share the same DX/DXi/VST/VSTi plugin support (both 32-bit and 64-bit via jbridge), the TC-Helicon harmonizer, the same track busses and number of tracks, essentially the same menu and toolbar interfaces, etc.
If you have RealBand, you don't really need PowerTracks. I like to have it just to use the less busy interface for certain projects and the upgrade price is not prohibitive.

Yes, you can run them both at the same time with the same project loaded you can set them to Snap, highlight a section of track and drag out of PT into RB. It comes in very handy, like having 2 instances of RB.
I learned something .. never thought of that application. Since I do mostly audio work I gotta ask; if you have something to send Start/Stop/SPP (Song Position Pointer) info, I wonder if you could get both to listen/work from one clock source .. 96 tracks!
