Hi
I've just installed 2017 and have many, many realtracks sets I've acquired over the years. My personal preference is to use BIAB for jazz and I actually want to get rid of some of the country etc tracks I have, but, as they come in sets, I'm not sure what to delete and where so as to not confuse poor old BIAB.
Any ideas on how to streamline my installation? Also would make it much easier to find tracks I actually use.
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. I've done just that, but I had to delete each folder manually. Luckily the folders can often be deleted in groups after sorting by name. I'm talking about the RealTracks installed to my computer; I leave the USB drive supplied by PG Music alone, as backup, in case I need a particular RealTrack.
Edit: more detail below, on deleting by adding!

Thanks in advance Here is my recommendation, Don't delete anything rather get a bigger storage drive. I partitioned a big drive so that H:\BB has its own space. After that never look at the huge collection of files BB puts on the drive. That is no way to find anything and if you have any type of organization dysfunction the clutter will drive you nuts.

Instead of deleting the real tracks why not just filter your searches to Jazz?
That's what I do when I'm looking for a certain group or sound and don't want to search through the hundreds of tracks.
You can filter it by many different variables.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

This is a great thread because I have the same issue, I can't afford a new external HD and I want to cut way down on not just my space, but also I want BIAB to run more efficiently, bottom line is that there are now tons of RTs and styles I will never use, it would sure be helpful to know how to delete these without deleting something important by mistake......

Exactly. And if you have the audiophile version, which takes up well over a TB (most of which is RealTracks), this becomes more of a concern.
I don't delete; I add.
To be more specific if it helps, I keep my RealTracks (audiophile) on a hard drive of its own, a Western Digital high speed 10,000 rpm Caviar Black. At 1 TB (it's several years old), it wouldn't hold all the RealTracks and RealDrums even if I wanted to put them all there, so every year I copy over only those folders I know I will use. One other trick: you must copy all the *ST2 and *XT2 files from the external drive main /BB folder to the /BB folder on your computer, because there is no way (that I know of) to tell what goes with which RealTrack.
I want to caution anyone from following my method unless you are an expert at file manipulation. I'm a retired computer science prof who taught programming from before there were any PCs. The good thing is, even if you eventually need a RealTrack you didn't copy at first, it's still on the supplied USB drive from PG Music, and you just copy the folder you need. Don't alter the USB drive contents, as it is a backup.
[I'm also considering Dan's advice and getting a new 2 TB hard drive, and just stick it all there.]

There are good suggestions in this thread. In general, if space is the issue, and you are sure that you don't need the RealTracks - then just delete the folders you don't want in c:\bb\RealTracks folder.
I'd highly recommend doing a backup before you do this, because you may delete a RealTracks that you might want in the future.
I wouldn't do the deleting while BB is running, because it only updates the status of the RealTracks when you boot up the program.
