Yes as they are bar based lyrics they need to make it save as time code lyrics, as the Save Lyrics in Midi Options only works with note based lyrics.
In Karakan I can sync Lyrics to the notes or Midi Time Code

To put a lyric on a place where there is no melody note, a MIDI time code can be used. A MIDI time code has the following form:

$measure:beat:tick$

Measures and beats are numbered from 1 onwards. The number of beats in a measure depends on the numerator of the current time signature. For example, if the time signature is 44, the beats in a measure are numbered from 1 up to 4, if the time signature is 34, the beats are numbered from 1 up to 3, and if the time signature is 68, the beats are numbered from 1 up to 6. The tick must be in the range [0..32767], dependent on the number of ticks per beat specified in the MIDI file. Click on the Info button on the Input tab to see the time signature(s) and the number of ticks per beat in the MIDI file.

A MIDI time code must be put in front of the corresponding lyric. For example, to place a lyric in measure 5 on beat 3, use:

$5:3:0$lyric
