Hello,

PG music has been emailing me lots during the last 4 weeks to upgrade to BIAB 2017. I have taken the Xmas break to have a look at the site, forum posts and content of 2017 to see if I should upgrade

Several things I noticed.

1. BIAB is not 64 bit and Dr Gannon shut down all the usual suspects by pointing out with jbridge it can handle vsti's with >4 GB sample memory. A different set of usual suspects came out to endorse his view.

2. I am grateful for BIAB being able to load 64 bit Vsti's but >4 Gbg 64 bit vsti's are elite instruments and they need a suite of controllers to bring out their magic. In my view the midi interface in biab and realtracks is MSDOS and unable to communicate in other than a basic way with these elite instruments.

If you have Logic, Cubase or Ableton Live you will know the attention that has been taken to provide expressive communication with Vsti's. And you are not thinking DAW - you are thinking of just one track at a time.

I am not asking BIAB to become a DAW. Rather I request it has a full set of tools to communicate with its standard 5 instrument channels, particularly if we choose to put 64 bit instruments in each slot; preferably 64 bit for I no longer have any interesting or useful 32 bit Vsti's or DAW software.

32 bit BIAB has become an in between that I forget until I get reminded at Xmas I have a PG account.

So with this in mind I will pass for now on upgrading.

have a Great New Year
