What I've learnded so far, triggered by rharv's post,

1. Bonus is bonus. You receive it now, you may receive it again with a later update. But the only two things about future are: a) there is a future and b) it is certain that what happens in the future is uncertain.

The Bonus Pak always (I reference my personal experience) contains stuff that is part of a later update. There are so and so many new (!) RealTracks in an update.*) If you have bought last year's Bonus Pak you pobably will have some of them already. It is not guaranteed that all of last year's Bonus Pak's content is included a subsequent update. While Bonus Paks usually generate extra revenue there must be something else to keep the interest high enough to pay extra for something that will be included in next year's update "for free". These additional bonuses are usually never available again.

2. Extra is something additional. My own experience is that extra's are giveaways to additionally boost the sale of a product. These are often products you can buy but are included for free to enhance the interest in buying the product -- or buying a follow-up product of the extra.

I might be wrong, but this is my experience so far.

What I also have learned: Save everything you download on another drive for future reference or re-installation purposes. You might never receive it again, once it is deleted.

*) The marketing talk is aimed at new customers, or customers who buy the new product isolated from updates and bonuses and extras.
