To clarify, it is my understanding that BIAB does not allow for a RT chord to be played in other than the range(middle C example )it's recorded in because there is no way to notate something like c3 position or have a RT recorded.
Am I correct on this?

If this is true, it would seem possible, because these are audio files, to expand the range of RT's, at the time of artist recordings, much as sampling is done and an addition in programing so C would be middle C, C1 up an octave c2,c3 and so on.
Please excuse what might be a naive approach or ignorance of BB's possibilities or limits or mine
Thanks just thinking out loud on the keyboard
Wyndham
BTW I know some RT's are listed as high track

This is done routinely Wyndham but maybe not a full octave. That's what the Elastique (time stretch algo) is for. AFAIK all the instrument RT's are recorded 3 times with each one being about a third apart to account for exactly what you're asking about. The Elastique handles the keys in between those recordings.

Peter Gannon indicated in a response to another post that RealTracks are recorded across 5 keys. My assumption would be that while a riff may extend beyond an octave that the 5 foundations are all within the same octave.

That's what I believe from reading different post at different times also.
Maybe the question is, would there be a need(market) to record a RT's in the 5 key in a lower and higher octave as well as the current octave? Since Peter is promoting extra style packs, this could be another area of development unless the programming load would be too burdensome for BB

I'm sure that's possible but they could run into some sort of maximum file size limitation. If one RT instrument like piano for example was recorded that way, how big would the file be? If the file is two or three times the size of the current piano RT wouldn't that drastically increase the generation times?

I don't know, just guessing here but it seems to me that would be the case.

What instruments were you thinking about ?
Using the RealCharts of the keys/piano are the same as there were recorded on the Yamaha acoustic/midi piano and same with the midisupertracks you can modify them however you like.
I put them in RapidComposer and fit them in any octave or position on the track.

It's one of those things I was considering in general while watching some youtube vids with different guitarist, some old Dire Straits and others. I haven't dug down into BIAB the way you and others have done.

I believe I understand what you mean to say but the way you stated it is not clear. Styles and RealTracks serve different purposes. I use the analogy that styles provide guidance about how-to use or create content. RealTracks is one component of the content; there is also midi, UserTracks, loops and audio content.

With that said, more recorded audio in a RealTracks should provide more content for the style to choose from. But, do the programs or styles have enough artificial intelligence to handle multiple octaves of content? Likely no unless there is a way to notate which octave you desire. I do not believe BiaB nor RealBand are capable of notating octaves.

Thanks Jim, yes that was what I wished to get across. Not being a musician myself, I fine it sometimes hard to convey certain ideas about music to others. Fortunately for me, my wife has learned to read my mind in this regard.
