Roll the Dice JonD and I were having writer's block so we decided to roll the dice and whatever number came up would be the root of that measure's chord. Once we had the chord roots in place we used theory to transition from chord to chord. One was the tonic and any other number chromatically went up the scale. Of course one can not roll a one with two dice so when we rolled an eight (the dominant chord) we stopped. As luck would have it we rolled an eight for the eight measure. We copied those eight measures, which we called section A, and started a section B with an F as a one. We rolled 4 measures, copied those, and returned to section A. BiaB style = Lushus-Smooth Jazz Deleted the guitar, piano, and bass parts. Kept and modified the drums and strings. JonD is playing the piano. I am playing the bass, guitar, and wind controller (trumpet and sax) Let us know what you think.
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

Mario & Jon,
A very interesting piece. Clever idea for chord choice!
I especially like the strings and the and wind controller parts.
Good mix. Enjoyed.

Ha ha, that's an original way to overcome your writers block ;-) nice soundscape, would fit right into a film noir.

Hi Mario.
Well, that's certainly a new way to get around the writer's block and I have to say, it worked for me.
I can imagine that it wasn't the easiest piece to play over, but the end result is a super-relaxing piece of jazz.
Enjoyed both the track and the background to it.
ROG.

Interesting song! Melancholy Jazzy sound with a unique approach. It is so great to make a fine jazz tune with such approach. Wind controller parts are so nice. Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Floyd, RnAM, Torrey, Robert, Kenny, Charlie, Shigeki and Bob thanx for listening and the kind reviews. We appreciate them.
Rog, no it was not the easiest song to play. After coming up with various chord extensions we had to put a melody with it. The A chord progression was CMaj7-Fm7b5-F#6-G#Maj7-D#Dim7-D9-Am7b5-G7+.
The B chord progression was FMaj7-C#Dim7-Bm7-Dm7b5.
Thanx for listening and the kind review.

We don't speak music theory talk but that certainly doesn't keep us from enjoying this...and lots of jazz.
As Bob alluded to all kinds of jazz club imagery come to mind. This would make a very cool video.
And as always the two of you play so well!
Thanks for the chance to listen.

Thanx J&B for listening and the very nice comments. We don't always play so well: you only hear our successful (at least we hope they are successful) endeavors!
Peter, Scott and Greg, thanx for taking the time to listen and comment on our experiment. We greatly appreciate it.
