Louder Version of Leaning

I transfer the mix to an HD digital recorder and either post it or import to SONY Acid for further adjustments, which is what happened with this one.
In the original transfer, the VU was set to go red at 0 db.
that's too low. I reset it to -12 db, kind of extreme, but wanted to be sure. Then I transferred by playing the song through a line input.
I added some EQ to knock down the high end, but bypassed both mixdown and mastering. As we know, mastering adjusts compression, one of the most important steps in post production.
So, that low voulme was a careless oversight on my part. Once I got the meter adjusted for the purpose, it blasted away. You can still hear some peaking, not really that objectionable, IMHO.
