Can someone take the time to explain to me why my two (2) posts regarding BiaB File Transfers between users or websites containing BiaB files have been deleted from this forum?

The first time round, I thought it was my keyboard skills. Second time obviously one of the moderators has removed the post.

Why? It is not blasphemous, crude, libelous or badly written. Is their some taboo about discussing this subject?
Is there some rule that dare not speak it's name?

I'm a beginner with BiaB, and the use of others files helps one learn, or have even more fun.

If this post is deleted, perhaps the moderator would have the rudimentary politeness to tell me why?

Harry

It might be a random error. See this thread: http://www.pgmusic.com/ubbthreads/showfl...ge=0#Post241000

It could also be due to point #8 under the forum rules. PGMusic need to safeguard their position regarding copyright.

I should think it is more likely that this rule is the reason:

"7. Advertising is forbidden in any relation to your account except by explicit permission. This includes, but is not limited to, advertising websites and commercial-related or competing products."

However, I certainly appreciate your point about the files of other members being of interest so that one can see how they use BB, and as a learning tool. It is a great shame therefore that, after many years, the Yahoo Group that did have a huge archive of BB tune files with melodies is now going to be taken down. I would join with others in thanking Jan Willem for his dedicated maintenance of those files over the years. Most of those files are still available elsewhere if you know where to go! They certainly have been a great source of inspiration to me and, just occasionally, I found the melody line for a tune that was absolutely unobtainable as published sheet music. Having this resource available never stopped me buying sheet music - I have two overloaded book cases absolutely full of yellowing music, including all the legal real books and despite their being available all over the place in more convenient illegal disk form.

If you hop over there quickly Harry, you may be able to grab those archives and put them on your hard disk, before they disappear and the copyright police throw Willem into a deep dark dungeon.

Oh, and you will even find Notes Norton's note over there - in case that is one of the posts you were missing - although I do agree with rule 7 and think that advertising is a plague on fora in general.

Merimbula! What a great jazz festival you folks put on every year. In my opinion, the best in Australia. I have missed going for a couple of years but I'll be back!

Thank you gentlemen for this information.
I can understand copyright rules, but it still strikes me as strange.
Anyway I'll try those two sites that are mentioned in this thread.

The Merimbula Jazz Festival is excellent. I think there were some 200 bands this year.
Some really excellent musicians.

I play Bluegrass and Old Time fiddle and my only contribution to Jazz is Sweet Georgia Brown..!!
However I had a couple of good sessions playing non-jazz tunes with some guys in one of the venues external to the Festival.

I am really pleased with BIAB as a practice and timing routine. If only I can get it all figured out.. which was the original point of my file sharing question.

Regards.

John

Harry,

I do not have a clue why your post are missing but Man oh Man I LOVE your avatar, or is that really a photo of you? If it is I think we may have met at a recent family reunion.

Bootleg musak. Just like the old days, it probably will get imported from Canada. Some guy in Chicago is going around now with SD cards under his raincoat, tips his hat and whispers, "Wanna get some tunes fella? No?, how about some Canadian pills, 75% off!"

Next the musak cops show up with M-60's and start blasting away. Turns out he never paid the taxes and goes to the big house.

I'm worried my my Mom will have to pay Socan fees. Just start talking.."tomorrow lets go to the drug store", and she launches in "Tomorrow, Tomorrow it's only a day a way, a way down yonder in the..when the roll is called up yonder, roll roll roll yer boat." Then I get poked with her cane. Told her she can't sing any more ..she launches into singing in the rain. Hmm...what I've got to look forward to...

JC, sounds like your Mum needs to be locked up! NOI

As to the avatar - ever seen that Irish comedy 'Father Jack'? (Actually, I think it may be called something else but it is very popular in the UK)
