In The Sweet Bye and Bye Getting a little more comfortable with this sequence: In Order. 1)Backup BB Hank Country 2)Vocal track 3)Guitar One (effects pedal) 4)Guitar Two (effects pedal) Using punch in/out more than before. Also, deleted CH2 Vocal & liked it better than with vocal. Thanks for the continuing education.

Thanks, Scott and Floyd. I don't see anything wrong with repeating songs, esp. if the technique has improved. I am less reluctant now to delete verse or chorus. I am listening for the good stuff and punching out the not-so-good. Riding the levels on the final mix more than before. All this, thanks to the forum members, what they say and what I hear. I like that video that starts, "I like to see a song as a project."

I like what you did in your performance and arrangement of "in the sweet bye and bye". It was an enjoyable listen and has always been a favorite song of mine.

We used to perform this in our bluegrass band.
We like where you took the arrangement!

Charlie, Joe, Janice & Bud: Thank you for the listens and the kind comments. I am indebted to all here. If you might indulge me on this, it has occurred to me that stye in music is like style in the other arts. Let's say an artist starts a painting with a canvas primed in off white and makes the drawing on that. Now, we already have the basis for a style. It is a two pronged fork -- first, we achieve a certain consistency, even recognizable, second, we tweak and refine, we learn to express within the parameters of that technique. I don't know who George Strait's fiddle player is, but I recognize the sound. To a new file, the BB track, already pretty much stylized and tweaked, goes in first. This is the beat and changes. Then sing to that. Bad notes or bad verses are retaken. The instrument will reinforce the good, and cover the not so good. I may not hit a high E, but I can smother it with a guitar note. Bounce or mix when called for to free resources. Now the melody guitar. A melody track. Then another. Listening through the two guitar tracks, I ought to be able to find at least a fill or two, maybe a full verse or chorus, from what has been done. Erase excess using punch. Now, I go through this longwinded post not to suggest or promote any way of working, rather to promote the idea of having an established procedure. I got this from one of the YTube links provided on this site. Thanks for your patience. PS. Yeah, Joe, you may recognize Paul on trial in Rome. Free to use Wiki Media file. I've been doing a Book of Romans bible study. They conceded not to have found much wrong with the man, but they took his head off, anyway. Something about "by faith we see it afar," and a praise tribute to the Father above.

Ed, I can tell your getting more comfortable with the program. I truly believe that the words mean something to you and that your not just using the song. God bless you and keep at it. Thanks, Torrey

Thanks, Torrey, Dani, and David. I do feel a "way" of putting the tracks together coming around. And, yes, I've been drawn into that era in unexpected ways.

Thanks Marty. I am finding if I record two tracks to the same backing, then use punch out to refine and tweak, the effect is interesting. Pretty obvious, but easy to overlook, if I play three minutes and can use 15 seconds of it, it's OK.

Thanks, TL Melvin. I never grow tired of playing it, especially the lead line of the Chorus. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your channel.

Ed,
'Sweet Bye and Bye' is such a terrific song. It seems to me that you and BIAB are working together as a great song-production team these days.
I enjoyed sitting back and listening what you put together. Thank you for sharing.
All the best, Noel
