>>> What is the difference between the audio files included on the regular 160 B USB drive as opposed to the files on the "Audiophile" Edition TB drive? In other words, what's the difference in bit depth, word length, file size, etc.?

The audiophile version has 44.1 KHz 16 bit AIFF files (uncompressed)
The retgular version has 128 kbps m4a files, typically 128 kbps

>> Are all the files from the same original recordings, and the smaller version file sizes just derived by converting down from the Audiophile recordings?

Yes.

>> Do the audiophile versions transition more smoothly between phrases? In other words, is there a benefit beyond just overall sound quality, dynamic range and headroom?

There isn't a sonic benefit other than you mention above , althoug the Audiophile version files generate the track about 20% faster.
