Hi Folks, We've not been around much, as most of you know. Di's health is declining quickly. She spends about three-fourths of her time in bed. I wrote this one about a week ago. It's a Lounge Jazz piece. She heard me working on it and said she'd like to sing it, if she could, when I was finished. She helped me finish the lyric yesterday. I added the lead guitar track and we recorded it a few hours ago. She listened to my demo of it one time and sang it. This is a one-and-done. She did this in one take and didn't have the energy to do it again. I don't think she needed to, anyway. This is what we came up with. Hope you enjoy. Al and Di,
This sounds superb. You've both done a wonderful job.
Di, your singing is great. I wish I could get vocals put together in a single take! I envy your ability. For me, I do a number of takes and then copy and paste the best bits from each one into a compiled track; even then I still have to punch in a few phrases here and there.
I love the small jazz ensemble you've created.
I really enjoyed listening.

The singing comes from the heart, and. The phrasing makes it so naturally easy to listen and get into.

You are much too kind. But you put a smile on both our faces! We really appreciate the very nice compliments. I wish I could truthfully say were worked our tails off on this, but that would be a lie. The melody came to me very quickly and the lyric came together pretty quickly, too. Since Di sang this in one take, our recording time for her vocal was less than ten minutes and my lead guitar was a third take ... about 45 minutes. Counting the lyric, the BIAB trax, her vocal and my guitar, we have about 6 hours, max, invested in this.
Delighted you enjoyed it! Your Monday is already well started, ours is about to begin. Hope yours is going as good as we hiope ours will.

You two are one heck of a team.
The pro's make it look easy. 6 hrs total time is extremely impressive for this project. The fact that Di nailed this so well on her first and only take is amazing beyond words. I probably sing any given lyric several dozen times before I hit record the first time. And it's often the 6th or so take before I get a keeper track. And that's before I pull out Melodyne and edit and clean it up. Yeah... very impressive.
That's some good jazz guitar playing in there too. The parts fit the genre well.
All in all, a very nicely done song.

Bob described the mood and scene...and, man, did you two ever nail it...vocal, guitar and production!
We love the cool slinky feel with her vocal working around the rhythm.
Makes us ready for a Billie Holiday listening session.
