I've been looking around for different styles and I've run across several sites that have homemade biab styles. I've downloaded some of these but when i go to use some, even thought It has the correct file extension, I get the error that this is not a proper style. Some of these are rathe old I'm sure and maybe there's a problem with current version reading this file.Is there a reader/converter oris thee a way of testing these styles at all. Thanks Wyndham

Interesting problem. Your styles might be from Finetuned, who I think are no longer active, or from Bob 'Notes' Norton, who most certainly is. You could try a PM to Bob (use the User List tab above and sort by number of posts; he's in the top grouping). If it's one of his styles, he will have an answer. Of course, if you found Bob's styles on someone else's website, that's illegal, and he would want to know that, too.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Matt i don't think these were from Bob. These were from a quick net search but have been around for awhile. of the few that did work, they sounded rather simple styles. Just curious if there were different version and styles conflict. Thanks Wyndham

Be careful that you didn't download Yamaha keyboard style files. They also have an extension of .sty, but won't work with BIAB.

John, that might be the case. Thanks for bringing that up. I had been looking for a style for the song by Jake Hess "I know where I am now" and one version by John Tubbs and was hunting anywhere I could some different styles that might fit this song. Sometimes you find more than you want and that leads into different direction. Thanks Again Wyndham

funny, I just bumped into Norton's site. I was looking for a Latin Jazz midi fakebook which I hoped would also include additional styles to what is provided with BIAB. I'm totally ok if they are just midi btw. I found a Latin fakebook but at the end backed out because it relied on pre-existing BIAB user styles i.e. a tune came with a recommendation of what style to use. I was not convinced that those recommendations would be true to the nature of the reference tune being cited. It seems that at best I can get an understanding of typical progressions used. My intent is not to use the fakebook to learn material for a gig but rather to study typical progressions for the purposes integrating them into my compositions. Not having the melodies tho is unfortunate since that's an important angle to study obviously.
I guess in a nutshell , I think I was looking for the Jamey Aebersold on midi and in a format that would readily integrate into BIAB i.e. most useful would be BIAB format. Tunes should be accompanied by a style file that truly reflects the underlying bass/comp/groove that's supporting the tune.
If anything like this exists please let me know.
thanks
-Charles
