Since you're "getting started" as you say, with Real Band.... you enter a chord, hit playback and nothing comes out of the speakers.....
But... you can generate it to real tracks and it plays as audio....
my first question is, did you install a default synth for playback of the midi things?
Whatever default synth you're using in BiaB should also be installed as the default for RB as well.
