Hi,

I installed my MOTU Ultralyte Hybrid on my PC and had it working in Sonar Platinum.

It may be coincidence but since installing BIAB the MOTU no longer works via any application i.e media files will not play at all beyond 0:00.

Anyone familiar with this situation?

Many thanks!
M

I'll note - only because...er, yes, I've done both of these things, and spent who knows how many sound-less minutes before realizing my stupidity -

a) On my PC sometimes for whatever reason I'll change the playback device from the little speaker icon in the bottom toolbar, then forget to change it back. Usually it's because I changed the playback device to my wireless headphones because I'm on a Skype call or something. So even though I'm hearing sound from Youtube or whatever, my DAW etc expects to be using my Focusrite. So...yeah. I usually spot this right away now; the first couple of times I was befuddled for longer than I care to admit.

b) One of my tax deductions once turned the headphone volume knob on my Focusrite all the way down. Trying to trouble-shoot that one was fun (hint: not fun).

Yes, your initial question was one of those which simply can't be answered by us. crazy Which is why no one responded. We just needed you to fingure out what button you forgot to press. Glsd you found it. Bet you won't make that mistake again. grin

It's not a volume problem.

Media will not play, will not get beyond 0:00.

I should mention that there are two other internal soundcards - Realtek and NVidia. The Realtek works fine so maybe there is a conflict happening somewhere.

Just wondered if anybody had encountered it.

Thanks
M

Try this:

Right-click on the speaker icon on the task bar
Select Playback Devices
Left-click on the required(expected) playback device (e.g. Speakers - default device)
Click Configure
Click the Test button.

Do you hear each speaker play a unique sound?

Try other playback devices if available.

Thanks! Yes, I tried this and the Realtek is fine - actually the NVidia is not plugged in so discount that.

The MOTU starts the test and the Meter shows an initial sound level which then freezes, exactly the same as if I play a WAV in Soundforge. The media will physically not play beyond 0:00. There is no sound. Maybe I should just try to reinstall the drivers?

You wouldn't happen to be using Windows 10 would you? I've noticed several times that whenever Win 10 "secretly" updates itself during the night, I have problems with my MOTU drivers. Usually have to delete and reinstall the drivers. YMMV.

Ha, thanks Jeff. I'll try that. Yes, I'm on Windows 10 for my new laptop and the MOTU has worked perfectly with Windows 7 for the last 7 years and still does on the old one.

I'll look out for it periodically disappearing ;-)

No problem, glad to help. Yep, Win 10 is a wile and cantankerous little beast! Plays havoc on my driver all the time.
