i think my problems have been solved - or at least circumvented - by the Focursite Scarlett Solo audio interface. Behringer (whose strength may be audio and not digital) might do itself a favor by either developing better software, or sticking to what it knows best?
the Focusrite also delivers sufficient sound to my (discontinued) AKG K44 headphones.
