Hi boys
I just bought a midi player, and have managed to set it up for biab.
Playing midi files and roaming back to the past ,is brilliant.
But can anyone tell me how I can save the sound I AM HEARING FROM THE MIDI PLAYER AND TAKE TO Daw and to final mix.
Hope I am making sense ,I know there are guys who are more midi than realtracks,so hoping I get a bit of help.
Thanks

A couple of things Big John, we need a lot more information in order to help. Things like what MIDI player, how are you using it with BiaB and what DAW are you using. Are you downloading GM MIDI files from the Internet and playing them? Are you adding parts to a MIDI file in BiaB? Things like this need to be explained so we can help.
Also RTs are audio files and they can not be played on a MIDI player. MIDI is data only and that data tells the player/BiaB what General MIDI (GM) sound to play and in some cases how to play it. BiaB and your MIDI player have GM sound sources built into them. In BiaB's case you can change the included GM sound source to a better one.
I hope this helps.

I usually route the output of my MIDI player (software app) into a bank of synth modules connected to a mixer. This might be the equivalent of a MIDI player.
I take the audio output of the mixer, route it through a Audio to USB interface to the computer that my DAW is on.
I like the Audio->USB better than using the headphone jack for two reasons (1) more bandwidth = higher fidelity (2) no static from a mini phone jack/plug connection.
I set up the computer with the DAW to record via the Audio->USB device and record.
I hope this helps.

Yes, Big John, more information needed. Presumably this is a hardware device? Can you tell us more about the device, and your setup?

ok thanks for the input.
I have just bought a roland jv 1080.
I have managed to get it set with biab, and I am loving the sound from the midi files within biab.
How can save it and take it all to a daw for to add vocals ,I would want to keep the sounds from the jv 1080.
I know it will be something like a lead from the output of the 1080 then where would it go to capture the sound.
Mario I know that real tracks don't play through a midi player, but I thought I could play a midi style with real tracks and hear both.
Hope you get what I mean.
Thanks

Thanks Three options: 1.Save the song as a MIDI file and then export (or drag/drop) the Realtracks as audio tracks to import into your DAW, so you can open the MIDI file and send it to the JV1080 and them import the audio Realtracks. 2.Send the audio from the keyboard back into BiaB and record it all as one audio track that you can then import or open to any DAW (with the realtracks separate or included in the mix). C.Simply Open the BiaB song in Realband, where you can add 40 more audio tracks .. or regenerate parts as desired for the Realtracks, and/or generate MORE realtracks. RB has 48 tracks compared to BiaB much smaller number. It also has a feature called Multiriff which allows generating multiple variations of a realtrack at once.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

Hi Big John,
The reason you can only hear the MIDI tracks when listening with headphones that are plugged into the 1080 is that the 1080 is only getting the MIDI tracks and not the RT tracks.
I work in Sonar but this will work with any DAW. Move/copy all BiaB tracks to a DAW. If you don't have a favorite DAW use RealBand as it is very good. The MIDI tracks should go to the 1080. Now you must run audio cords from the 1080 line outs to your audio interface line ins. Now all of your MIDI tracks and RTs will play through your speakers and/or headphones that are plugged into the audio interface (which audio interface do you have). I have a JV880 as well as a few other hard synths and I use the above procedure all the time.

I have the akai eie pro interface.
Would I then be able to use the sounds from my 1080 as part of my backing track for my songs..?

Yes you can. Just plug the 1080 line outs into the Akai line ins. As you are playing one MIDI to 1080 track at a time record it into your DAW: in Sonar that is called live bounce to track. Repeat for each MIDI to 1080 track. I'm sure a RealBand expert can show you how to do it in RB. Mute or delete your MIDI track: PS-always work with a copy, that way you will not lose any of your work. Now your MIDI track audio is just like a RT. You can now either burn the song(s) to a CD or use your DAW to play your backing tracks.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Thank you Mario
You have been a great help- to me on this one, I did kind of figure it would have been something like that.
Though I must admit I thought it would be easier to set the hardware synth to replace the software synth .
At least I can do it.
Thanks

I'm glad that I could help and you have everything up and running.
Listening to a BiaB MIDI song through a hard synth like the 1080 is easy. But it is a little more time consuming when you want to save the song to a CD or if you want to use the song as a backing track in a live performance and you do not want to carry all that equipment with you.
Be sure to post that song so we can hear it.

Mario
A wee update I have got it going like the wind.
What I done was bought sonar artist and it was a breeze from there on in.
The Akai eie has a monitor control and that was what was throwing me off ,you turn it one way for to hear external devices, and then the other way to hear vsti...etc.
Anno why in heavens name thanks Again Mario.

There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
