There seems to be some inconsistency with the Midi and Audio Recording feature. Both recording dialogs provide settings for -> Record From Bar#. Say, you'd like to record from bar #20 - you thus enter 20 into the field 'From Bar #' (never mind the chorus). Audio Recording then starts out from bar #20, as expected. However, Midi recording starts from bar #18. Do we have a bug here?

I'm not sure about audio recording, but MIDI recording starts playing back two bars before the bar you specified, but then starts recording on the bar you specified. It works sort of like the two bar lead-in to get your timing right before you start recording.

I would think that audio should do the same thing, but I guess it doesn't (I do all my audio recording in RB, so I'm not sure what happens in BIAB).

Thanks for the note John. I tried again here and find that Midi recording starts out at bar 18 (!) when '20' is entered into the field 'From Bar #'. Having playback starting 2 bars early to serve as kind of count-in would be fine, yet when the keyboard is engaged through these fudged 'count-in' bars, played notes get recorded during those fudged 'count-in' bars - which contradicts the entry in the field 'From Bar #' ...

Martin, I'm not totally sure but I think there is a place, maybe in preferences to set the count in and there might be a "0" opt, not sure but check if this works. Wyndham

Wyndham, this count-in parameter affects the very first 2 lead-in bars of a song only. It's steers whether there will be some count-in for the song or not. It does not affect the 2 bars set-back of a Midi recording session. Note, that the inconsistency between Audio and Midi recording holds for whatever count-in parameter setting.

I guess I never actually hit any keys during those two bars (since I was looking to record two bars later), so I guess I never experienced that problem.

It seems to me that it is a bug in the sense that:

1) It should be consistent, whether you are recording audio or MIDI, and
2) I would contend that the 2-bar lead-in (bars 18 and 19, if you will) are fine to get you in the groove, but it really should act more like a punch-in, so nothing else gets recorded to bars 18 and 19 and the recording only starts once you hit bar 20).

My $0.02 worth.
