This is the green/blue item in the "Views" area of the menu bar that looks like "Bb>C". It shows as "Chord Display" and has a dropdown arrow next to it.

- The "mouseover" popup is missing a right parenthesis (OK, that's just a nit-pick)
- The "mouseover" popup states in part "... This doesn't transpose the music ...". You CAN use this dropdown to do transposing. It should rather read something like "this isn't normally where you would transpose the music".
- When you use the "Layers" function, which is the first item on the dropdown (say "Section text"), BIAB "remembers" the setting and retains it even after closing the program and re-opening.
- It would be preferable to have that "remembrance" as an option.
- It would also be useful to be able to save any of the "Layers" settings per song, either as a default or a selectable option

- The same applies to any of the options under the "Visually transpose ..." portion of the dropdown. That is, the settings are retained after shutdown, and you must manually turn them off when you start a new BIAB session.
- This too would benefit from a "save per song" function, default or option.

Thanks!

I want to thank Lloyd for getting me to look at this icon and menu. It's been awhile.

Note: If you're looking for this icon in the Normal screen mode, it's green/blue letters as Lloyd says, but in the Minimal screen mode, in Views of the new toolbar, it's all grey.

Lloyd, I'm not finding any missing parenthesis. Where is it, again?

About transposition, as we all know, BIAB has several methods of transposing, with different effects, accessed in several different places. I have noticed that this results in more than its fair share of questions in the forum whenever new users who play sax or other transposing instruments start to enter fakebook charts into BIAB. I don't have an answer; I'm just suggesting we tread lightly here and think it through completely.

I agree with Lloyd's suggestion that the status of transposition should be saved on a song-by-song basis.
+1

When we last discussed this topic, maybe six years ago?, PG Music agreed with my observation that a transposition in effect could really get confusing. Peter Gannon himself said it had caught him, too. He quickly added a green or yellow "warning" box on the lower right when starting the program, that a "transposition was in effect" or words to that effect.

Matt:

When you hover over the "Chord Display" button on the menu bar, the text that shows up starts:

"Chordsheet Display"
It has an opening bracket starting with
"(for non-concert instruments ..."
but there's no closing bracket.

Regarding the "transposition was in effect" warning notice, I appreciate it also. My feeling is, when you close a BIAB file, or BIAB itself, it should automatically re-set to "No Transpose".

Same with the "Layers". It should reset to "Close all layers".

Thanks!

Agreed. +1

And now I see the missing parenthesis. I have my tool tips set on a substantial delay (because I rarely read them) and didn't see that; I was looking at the menu options themselves.
