I don't know if it is just me, but I think these 2017 Audiophile Tracks are just outright gorgeous. Some huge advances in sound quality. What a joy to work with these.

Hope you enjoy this. Kept it simple.

Something to Believe In
David Snyder

V1

There’s a reason I’m driving on 95
Why I told my city friends goodbye
I’m tired of the asphalt under these boots
My country heart can’t shake its roots
Designer dresses can be deceiving
When there’s nothing inside and nothing worth keepin’
But there’s a girl in church in my home town
Who sings like no one else around
Not a thing about me she can’t mend
And when she kisses me that’s how I win
Don’t need this world or what it pays
Take a heart of gold any day

CH:

Cause she gives me something to believe in
Yeah, she gives me something to believe in
You know the right girl can set you free
And her small town is big enough for me
So I ain’t leaving, no I ain’t leaving

V2

There’s a reason I’m walking in through this door
I was raised ‘round here and I been through war
Seen the very worst that the world can do
I know the difference now between a lie and the truth
Never put much faith in a bar of gold
Knew that much when I was eight years old
And when I met her on one moonlit night
By amazing grace I saw the light
It’s got nothing to do with guilt or sin
You just compare the places that you’ve been
My daddy told me when I was ten
Son the best you can do is marry your friend

CH

And she gives me something to believe in
Yeah, she gives me something to believe in
you know the right girl can set you free
And her small town is big enough for me
So I ain’t leaving, no I ain’t leaving

Bridge:

By the grace of God, I’m on this road, and you can’t change what my heart knows
I’m not waiting ‘til I’m fifty or a hundred years old, I’m betting right now on this heart of gold

CH:

And she gives me something to believe in
Yeah, she gives me something to believe in
Yeah, she gives me something to believe in
And her small town is big enough for me
So I ain’t leaving, no I ain’t leaving

Hi David'

Cool Song! On first listen, your songs Sound a bit raw asdn not quite finished. Thern, on subsequent listen, we hear this sing that is indeed finished but passed on the whistles and bells because the indigenous qualities were all that was needed. You always manage to sat the most with the least amount of whistles anb bells. A good guitar, a good tune and a perfectly natural voice to ble3nd it in to a magical piece ofr music, Works for us, We loved it a bunch,

Wishing you the best, David. We love your music!

Alan & Di

David

You keep pumping out good ones - nice set of lyrics to a pared back band that sounds great.

Love the lyrics, David! And there is something about your voice, it has a real "honest" quality if that makes sense.

David, you've added a whole new dimension to the forum. You are an excellent writer, producer and performer. You can be as soft as you are edgy. Another great song.

Enjoyed listening to your latest.

You're quickly becoming one of my favorite lyricists on this website. (and a few others too) Just one of several lines that hit me ....

Quote:
Designer dresses can be deceiving

damn! ... just good writing

Nice one, David.

I like the simple production for this. Really nice, sing-able chorus. Positive love songs - what it's all about...

Thanks Alan and Di!

Yeah, I was going to add more stuff to this, then I sat back and said: Why? Why add in a bunch of useless stuff and ruin a perfectly good song?

smile

I'm really trying to boil it down to 4 instrumental tracks now, and only add other tracks if I really, really need them and they don't get in the way of the vocals.

Thanks Dave! I really appreciate that. I have been working mighty hard on it and I know exactly what you mean.

I read an interview with John Mayer sometime back and he was talking about how vocals are "devilish" and the "hardest part." He says he can play the guitar in his sleep but he has to work hard on the vocals.

I can't remember the exact phrasing but he said something to the effect that you have to relax and not "try too hard" but that was a lot harder than it seems.

I think he nailed it. It is hard. But thanks for the kind words!!!

David,

This one just rings true from first to last -the great sounding strummed guitar to your fine vocal... and above all a really good write.
Great instinct to keep it simple!
