there should be an option to choose a drum fill for an intro instead of the standard count in and the other option would be able to pick which fillin in a real track to insert on a specific measure
If you have the Win version use RealBand to get anything you want anywhere, MulltiRiffs will give you what you need. Have a look here http://realband.org/drums.html there are drums with intros, riffs, solos and 4 bar Endings like Mersey etc...

The Count-in Intro settings can also be adjusted (to some degree) in the Mac version.

In the MAC is it a Global setting, or Local to each song?

Global, unfortunately. The case for song-based has been presented to PG some time ago.

I transcribed a Bill Evans jazz waltz (B Minor Waltz, very cool) and used just the A substyle for it. I had forgotten my global count-in was a fill from the B substyle. Whoa, jarring.

Yes, this should never be a global setting. The flexibility is great, but it has to be implemented on an individual song-by-song basis.

It should be an easier enough thing to do, to copy those choices in the Count-In Options Dialog over to Song Settings, with the defaults set as the current Global Count-In for a new song, this is where you can have your custom time signature count offs midi/samples/vocal maybe ???? but I'm no programmer !
And if it's a matter of file format and backwards compatibility, I would think that at some point that has to be addressed.
When I use Noteworthy Composer and load an old file, it converts it to the new file internally. Then when I go to save it, it warns me that I had opened an old format file that will now be overwritten by the new format, which preclude the previous versions of the program from opening it. I also know there are other apps that allow you to save as the previous version (I believe Finale does this as well); however, when you do, you lose the new features you wanted in that saved file.
I think file format will ultimately have to be addressed if many of the things being suggested are implemented, especially those things that are song specific (sing that information needs to stored in the file) and we'll have to reckon with the fact that older versions won't be able to open newly created content.
Old content should be able to be open, because you would still have global defaults set, so those new fields can be filled in with those defaults when you open the file, and saved with the file when you save (but you won't be able to test the file in the older version).
I could be wrong, but I suspect some of this is the reason for perceived hesitancy to implement some of these ideas.
Or maybe the file format is extensible enough that it's not a problem, but I just had that thought.

With RealBand you just set to snap, highlight fill you like, hold Ctrl+Alt, drag, let mouse go first.
You can also go to your bb\Drums folder find the same drum you are using with the closest tempo drag it into the very start or onto the volume slider of an empty track select the whole track by Ctrl+click or Ctrl+A right click track > Time Stretch & Pitch Shift.... enter old tempo (in the filename) enter new tempo that RealBand is set to with Snap off Ctrl+click to select whole track drag to very start if not in sync with original drums. now you can copy sections, and at the very end of the track there are hits you can highlight without Snap on, > Ctrl+C > (set events only) Ok set Snap on again, now set cursor where you want to paste the hit Ctrl+V > select events only and Merge audio to merge the hit with existing drums.
