I installed Biab 2009.5 including RealDrums and RealTrack on an external hard disk (X:\), connected to my XP computer. Biab is ruuning fine. I want to use Biab also  on my second PC with Vista. Biab is running fine on the second PC, but the Real Styles are not mentioned in the style pick list (only midi styles), even after I tried Re-build and Find new styles. Then I installed Biab on the C drive on the second PC except RealTrack and RealDrums (they are installed on the external hard disk). The issue is not solved. The RealTracks Settings is showing that the location is set to X:\bb\RealTracks. So that should be OK. I hope someone is recognizing this issue and can help me solving the problem.

Hello Jan,
This is most likely because those .STY files are not in your Band-in-a-Box folder. If you have the hard drive version of Band-in-a-Box, the Band-in-a-Box Setup file on the drive will install all of the styles (sty) with RealTracks - run the setup file, and make sure you select the correct location of your Band-in-a-Box folder (if you have a fairly recent version of the hard drive, you would choose the option to install Band-in-a-Box to your C drive and leave RealTracks on the external drive). If you have the download or disc version of the program, the styles (.sty) with RealTracks are installed with RealTracks (not the Band-in-a-Box program).

Hi Andrew,
I have the download version of Biab and all .sty files are installed on my external hard drive in X:\bb and not in X:\bb\RealTracks. This was default, except "X:\" of course.

Hi,
If you had the styles in X:\bb and you were running bbw.exe (Band-in-a-Box) from C:\bb, that would explain it - the .sty files should be in the same folder as bbw. Does X:\bb\bbw.exe run fine and find your styles? If so, you could copy the contents of the X:\bb folder to C:\bb and that should solve the problem. To do this:
-Open X:\bb, and press Ctrl+A to select all the files and folders.
-Hold down the ctrl key on your keyboard and click on the Drums and RealTracks folders to deselect them.
-Press Ctrl+C to copy
-Navigate to C:\bb and press Ctrl+V to paste.
-You don't need to replace any of the files that are in both folders, so to speed it up you could answer 'no to all' when asked if you want to replace files.

The complete Biab is installed on the X drive, including all .sty files. I run bbw.exe from the X drive. Only the MIDI styles are detected in the style pick list. The problem only occurs when the hard drive is connected to my second PC (Vista). I will copy X:\bb to C:\bb on my second PC as you described to see if that will fix the problem.

Hi Jan,
On Vista, User Account Control can cause all sorts of problems when running BB on an external drive. Try disabling UAC and see if perhaps this is what the problem is. This is done in Control Panel | User Accounts. A reboot will be needed.

Hi Andrew,
This did not solved the problem. I will stop for now trying to find the solution. Biab works great on my main PC. It would be nice to have it work on my second PC, but it is not very urgent to realize that right now. I will check the configuration of the Vista PC and if I have to I can re-install Vista to see if the issue is still there. I will come back with the results about one or more weeks. Thanks for your response and suggestions.

I copied BB to C:\ exept RealTrack and Drums. Those will be stored on X:\ the external hard disk. That was the solution. The problem is solved.
