Hello Lloyd S.,
I followed your steps with the same results. I kept going with the following, and was able to get the layer chord font color to change:
-Opt | Preferences | Display
-From drop-down (top left): Chord Display layer (text)
-Select color from "box" below in "Display Options" window
-Select OK once ideal color chosen.
Try this, and if you're still not seeing results let us know!
