Sandra, that was a very nice comparison. I also listened to your hollow body vs semi hollow body comparison. Again it was excellent.
If I may ask a few questions. Did you use identical strings on the Strat, Tele and LP guitars? Did you use the same strings on the jazz guitar comparisons? Just curious. Also do you use flat wounds on your jazz guitars? I love the sound of flat wounds on my jazz box.
You started a super version of Moonlight in Vermont. It sounded a lot like Johnny Smith. I would like to hear the whole song from you.
Ps - I signed up.
Hi Mario,
Thanks for subbing my channel and the very kind feedback.
As for the strings:
The Strat and Les Paul both have D'Addario 10s on, while I use Mangan 10s on the Tele.
On my jazz guitars I use Thomastik Infeld strings. Those are excellent Austrian strings (George Benson and many other great jazz guitarists play them) and thus easily available here in Austria.
On the semi acoustic (Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion) I use Thomastik Bebop 12s, which are round wound.
For the hollow body (Eastman 905) I use Thomastik Swing 12s, which are flat wounds.
Personally I'm not a fan of flat wound guitar strings, since they provide not enough sustain for my taste. In order to have different sounds with my two jazz guitars, I opted for flat wounds on the hollow body.
Thank you for the compliment on my chord melody version of "Moonlight In Vermont". I will put it on my list for the video shootings in summer.
Sandra
