In John's top image, the 'Use Data Filter' is a Radio Button option under 'Keep Gap'.
As expected it deselects 'keep gap' when you select the Data Filter, but it does actually keep the gap (as it should since the intent is to filter out some data to affect and leave the rest in place).
In my mind I have always thought it should be a check box higher up in the screen; and if selected it simply forces Keep Gap.
Or maybe even a sub-selection of Keep Gap .. indented a little
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
