Here's one we've been working on for a couple of weeks and just finished an hour ago. Late 1980s Country - ala George Strait (don't we wish!). Although I (Alan) played lead guitar in a country band for 40+ years, my voice is definitely *NOT* suited for country. But this is my best effort of about 7 or 8 cuts. We think it's a pretty good song and would sound nice with the right singer. Thanks for listening! Key=F , Tempo 85, Length (m:s)=3:51 44 bar intro, 36 bar chorus, from bar 45 to bar 80. This is a great song - I completely hear the 80's country vibe in this one. Outstanding production.

Charlie Fogle did a classic country, now you do this
great country song, I'm gonna have to come up with
a Hank Williams type song !

The title is an attention grabber and those opening lines are simply brilliant.

As far as migrating between genres, Di and I both have done that forever. Although I made a crapload of money playing country music, I've always enjoyed most genres of music. A friend of mine once said, many years ago, that there's not a lot of bad music, just a lot of good music performed poorly. My voice just doesn't sound country and but there are a few country songs on which I sound half-way decent. It's totally different than what we originally wrote. I guess it was a good idea! That was the best way I could think of to have the subject of the song refuse to move on. Gotta love that...a song of ours expresses a similar sentiment in a couple of lines... It's interesting how you expressed it in a stone country song and we used a blues rock tune. That's what we like about music. If it has soul and is heartfelt the genre is NOT the most important part - OK pardon the ramble.
The first verse is so strong. Just like you read about songwriting. Grab 'em from the get-go. Love the clock and calendar lines.
Without parsing further we'll simply say this is a wonderful arrangement, melody and lyric and irrespective of your comments about your vocal it is delivered in a manner that makes the song simply sound genuine.
As a friend once said about a great country tune...it's stronger than a garlic milkshake!"

Only someone who has spent a lifetime in the genre would be able to write the changes, melody, and lyrics found in this Real country song. Great use of modulation in the guitar break. Good job on the vocal. It's Real! Loved It all. Very well done and country to the bone! Tom
