Kira Says No is a swing 8th pop song for my granddaughter (my main audience). I wrote the song particularly so she (2 yrs) could recognize her name.

Style: EZLISTP
RealTracks:
1388 Swing Jazz acoustic bass
2193 Swing Rhythm acoustic piano
1985 Swing Rhythm acoustic guitar,
RealDrums: Jazz Brushes.

The music was saved as one WAV track and loaded in Audacity, where I typed in the lyrics, recorded and compressed the vocal, and then mastered (that seems like too much for my skill) the whole thing using Marian Brezovan's EU Pro Mix EQ 10, a freebie from Online Mastering Studio because I have Focusrite's Scarlett Solo. The setting for the mastering was a preset called Full Range Enhance. I chose this software because it was new to me, and seemed different from Eventide's 2016 Stereo Room. I chose this musical setting, which is the demo, because I really liked the vamp.

Thanks for listening and I'm grateful for any comments.

Kira Says No

Kira likes sitting down,
Standing up, Running around
Having fun like a circus clown
Uptown, downtown, midtown, hometown.

Some days Kira’s inclined
Not to be so very refined
She’s a playful mastermind
Don’t ask she’ll decline
Don’t make a federal case
Kira says no.

Kira likes to read a book
Hiding out in a corner nook
She loves to take a look
Even if it’s gobbledygook

Kira likes to watch cartoons
Specially with red balloons
Lot of cops, lots of goons
Little pigs or masked dragoons
Don’t say stop, don’t even try
Kira says no.

Kira did a 5k run
Underneath the noonday sun
Faster time than anyone
Don’t stop now it's too much fun

Kira is a dynamo
She got hugged by her Romeo
She’s an impresario
Don’t try to stop her show
Kira says no.

Delightful.

Bold move, creating a song for family that would involve them listening.

That probably sounded horrible, I don't think I'm the only one around here

that says to family, I wrote a new song, and they just shrug their shoulders

Anyway I hope that Kira listens and loves it, it's great.

Kenny

Hi Marty,,

Ha - we loved it! That's so cool of you to write a tune for Kira. And she's a real cutie! We liked that you used a story setting appropriate for her age. Di and I say "NO!" - don't stop writing great stuff like this. Di's comment: "That is just so danged cute and considerate. Bless him!". I agree.

We love anything with that jazzy Sinatra feel to it. An arrangement suitable for an irreplaceable recording icon with a story for a two-year-old. That's just so good! We're still applauding!

Alan & Di

Marty,
I can hear this being sung on Sesame Street to a bunch of cute kids like Kira and Big Bird dancing around.
Hits all the marks for me - I hope your most important audience enjoyed it too!

This is so true!

I hope that you burned a CD of this song for her. I'm sure she would cherish when she gets older, especially if she has children of her own.

This is really good!

Loved this tune Marty. No better way to show the little one how much you love her. I also have the same problem Kenny mentioned. Grand kids begrudging listen to Grandpas songs. Once in awhile I get a smile from them. Once thing for sure it is theirs forever.. Well done
