I actually knew this one. It was the name Francesco that triggered the memory...Frankie Valli!

G'day Basil,
I got Judith wrong, shame on me - I shoulda known who she was

But, as for being "down Under" it's been discovered that we're actually "up top" - see:

So, the Aussies are in 'A World Of Our Own'? If so, then the Tasmanian Devils are still above you, Lawrie! And no wonder they call New Zealanders cultivated Aussies!

All the best from down under, digga!

Got another one:
What is the name of the band, or song title, of this song whose recording was a last ditch tune to complete an album that turned out to be their only number 1 hit? In fact, the bassist had already left the band and they went on to record the hit without a bass.

Any takers?

I've heard some of the story but I can't remember who they were (are?)

No Bass - probably the Doors - original bootleg recordings had bass, rest of 'official' recordings didn't ...

In case I was right -
Lead singer of Survivor and Ides of March, Jim Peterik, what band did he 'survive' and how?
Penalties for any brass players that don't know ...

Bonus points-
the band was named after one the members; who was he a protege of?

I'm thinking the band Jim Peterik "survived" would be one of my favorites that I still listen to often, and that would be Chase. Jim Peterik sang lead vocal on several of the songs on Chase's third album "Pure Music". Bill Chase was a protege of Maynard Ferguson (got fired) of the Woody Herman Band fame.

At least that's how I understand it.

Given that several members of the band died in the plane crash, I still find it interesting that the first song on the first album is "Open Up Wide" and the last song on the last (3rd) album was "Close Up Tight".

Makes you go...Hmmmmm!
