Wha' happened? Everything fine last night. This morning i get warning that my '30 day Forte trial is about to expire". What trial? Bought and paid for when i got biab and registered it there and then. Been to options /dxi but cant see how orwhere to input the reg. No. I'm on Win7 and I get a box saying that I have to change something in Control Panel cos it wont register otherwise? Is that right or is it a rogue flag? Can anyobe help please? WendyM

Forte doesn't "call home" to see if you are authenticated. You just need the appropriate registration code.
First thing to do is to make sure you are running BIAB as an administrator. Then launch the Forte interface. Make sure you are selecting Coyote Forte and not Coyote WT. Once the Forte intervace is up, you should be able to right click on it and select (something like) "Enter Registration Code". I can't remember for sure, but I don't think you can CTRL-Paste it and have to actually type it in.
If that doesn't work, I would probably try to uninstall it first, reboot, then re-install and see if you can enter your registration information (again, run BIAB as an administrator).
I've been installing (and at times uninstalling) Forte since it first came out and have never had a problem (and that's been on WinXP, Vista, Win7, Win8, and Win10.

Hi John, yes i'm running BB as Admin. At least I click on the run as admin and it opens ok. Win 7 is run as admin too - im the only user. Ive uninstalled, shut down ,rebooted, re-installed etc a few times and each time I get THIS MESSAGE - see pic. Forte interface opens ok for the moment and its installed and the Sounds are right. But its running out of time (apparently) and nothing I do gets to a plce where I can put in my Reg code. Can you explain the message and where it is in Control Panel, asuming Win7 control panel. Oh I knew it was going too well. ;-( WendyM

I feel your pain Wendy. No one could have tried better to make this more difficult to find. I think this helps:
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
Dear Mr videotrack, Marry me !!!! Thats sorted it. at least the message has gone away for now. I really appreciate you chipping in with this total gem of information. WendyM

Okay, I'm confused; how were you trying to register the software to get that error message, as I've not seen that error message before (and interestingly, they misspelled "Control" in the message)?
It looks like you are okay now, but if you keep having problems or error messages from Forte, you might want to just temporarily turn UAC off completely (click the Start orb, and type UAC in the "Search programs and files" box and you'll see where you can change UAC settings). Changing UAC to never requires a reboot. Then, do what you need to do to authorize the software, and once authorized, you can always set UAC back.

I'm confused also. I've never seen that message, and the logic seems inverse.
I've also never seen a UAC setting 'true'. There are just multiple levels of notification.

Hi John and Videotrack here is a screengrab. That strange message pops up every time if I try and register a new plug in which is what I thought i had to do. Bizarre that its misspelled. Any ideas? Whatever, the Forte message didnt appear this morning so my reg worked. Many thanks. WendyM

Okay, I see what you are doing now. I don't think you actually have to register a new plugin, as that should have happened during installation. Generally, you may have to just rescan the plugins if you are not seeing them.
From the user manual:
Scan for New Plugins button will re-scan for newly installed plug-ins. Use this option if you have installed a new plug-in since starting Band-in-a-Box.
Register a New Plugin button can register a plug-in with Windows, so that audio applications such as Bandin-a-Box or PowerTracks can use the plug-in. Most DX plug-in installers register themselves, but this option is useful if you have a plug-in that doesn’t automatically register itself.

Dear John. Having used biab today to work on a BT for a gig next week I can confirm that Forte is working fine so it got fixed. Many thanks for all the input. It doesnt explain where that wierd message comes from. Do you think it worthy of telling Teacher? ;-) WendyM
