I agree with Dave, while there are a few of ways to do what you want, depending on how much you want to copy, the easiest is probably to copy the whole track and then delete those bits that are not needed.

Alternatively, you could use F5 (Windows version of BIAB) and mute the sections of Soloist track that you don't need playing the melody (this is definitely the simplest approach).

If you choose to delete notes, the Piano Roll view would be the easiest and quickest way to do this. If you go to the below link, there's a 2:26 minute video clip called "Band In A Box Piano Roll" that's located in the "Intermediate" section of videos. This clip explains how Piano Roll works.
