Most common in jazz, yet nowhere to be found in BIAB. And, probably the easiest to record.

Good question. It gets asked every few years.

I would think drums would indeed be easy if they were in a style at a given tempo. Bass, like any instrumental soloist in BIAB, would be a bit harder; it would require multiple takes in varied keys.

There have been so many times I wish there were dedicated drum solos. Didn't even have that when it was MIDI only. You would think that would be easy to do. The best I can do is play around with strategically placed part markers and perhaps create some multi-styles for additional drum variations.

If you're in your car driving, there may be a bass solo; you just won't hear it. grin

I'll give it a +1 even though I can't imagine why anyone would want a fish solo!

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

That warrants a Bang, Zoom (short drum solo).

All you needed was a splash cymbal - run and ducking for cover grin

That goes back like 10 years, you could wait for PG to give the option but it takes a while for them to catch on to good ideas,
or just DIY it:

In the Tips n Tricks there's heaps of info on Drum n Bass Solos.

Drum solos (easiest because of no harmony) and bass solos are a staple of jazz - and yet BIAB has never offered them despite every other instrument in every jazz style. I've been using BIAB, and an advocate of the program to all my students since it's inception on the Atari in 1990 - yet this omission remains a complete mystery.

Can anyone from PG Music answer this?

Great suggestion for expanding our RealTracks library to include bass and drum Real Soloists. It has been added to the list! Thanks all.

By the way, I don't think anyone mentioned, but we do already have Fours with drums in a few styles.

Have you seen this link for bass solos?
http://www.pgmusic.com/tutorial_bass_solo.htm

I have been taking standards like Autumn Leaves and using this technique to generate bass solos to work on ideas and phrasing. Tutorial is a bit old but still works.

There are some bass and drum solo tracks. The drum tracks are really just using the trading fours format.
