Just want to know if some people ever try to install and Run BIAB 2017 on a Raspberry PI3 (working under Window 10 ioT (Windows Version for the Raspberry)+ PI Sound interface PI Sound
BIAB could be installed on an external Drive connected to USB poort of the Raspberry PI3

I am going to get my PI3 + a Hifi Berry DAC+ Pro as an audio cartd and I will try

I don't recall this has ever been asked or discussed here. Interesting idea. Let us know your results.

Yes, will be very interesting to find out your success. The device you mention I suspect has a lightweight (cut down) Windows O/S.

We'll be very keen to follow your project and hear about your results.

Pretty please...? wink

Thinking further, a few years ago the practical minimum requirements to run BIAB were raised. Perhaps version 2015 might work where 2017 would not? And you would want to disable a few options in the Preferences, RealTracks dialog box.

Even so, you would probably be limited to MIDI tracks or maybe one audio track, such as drums, in the same way it used to work on a netbook.

You could try reporting your single-core Geekbench score for starters.

I have few options
1 - Building Backup tracks (stereo) and run them through the PI3 (this should work as it is quite easy to build an audio server (e.g. volumio no need of windows OS) therefore I will be able to make a play list and run the backing tracks in the right order.

2 - Runing BIAB with Realtracks would be my prefered option but as you say not sure the ressouces available in the PI3 would be enough (I don't need MIDI IN and OUT) I would probably need ASIO4ALL as th audio Driver

I will try different versions of BIAB (as I keep them safe for many years so

Would RealBand take less ressouces as it could also be an option

First up, Windows 10 IoT on ARM does not support standard UI desktop applications, and does not support Intel architecture applications at all.

A future version of ARM Desktop Windows may support i386 (32-bit, not 64-bit) applications, but that probably will not extend to the Pi - it will be devices based on a new crop of Qualcomm chips.

You would be better to look at something like a LattePanda - an Intel system board that actually runs Windows 10. However, it does cost a lot more than a Pi.

Si.Blakely

If an ARM processor is involved (which is what I had thought could be the case) then I too believe forget about success with this approach. We have other UI software which is simply not able to run with the ARM processor and the associated cut-down O/S

Additionally, welcome to the forums.

This is a good idea looks like the
LattePanda 4Go/64Go is around $150 which is stil reasonable.

Thanks for your valuable feedback
Fred

I've also ran BB/RB from one of these (using the external HD of course).

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834234206&cm_re=ASUS_Transformer_Book_T100TAF-B14-GR-_-34-234-206-_-Product

I haven't relied on it, just tested to see if I could and it ran/generated just fine.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

I'm guessing it won't run.

Win10 iot is pretty stripped down OS.
Lots of missing libraries from the regular OS.
That could cause you some problems.

BIAB is at times computationally intensive. Song Generation could take a while if it runs at all. I expect the UI may also cause some problems.

I have worked with PI and Win 10iot on a industrial controller application. Not anyway near as complicated as runniing BIAB.
Lots of frustration.

Nevertheless, I bid you good luck and promise to be the first to sing your praises should you get it to work.

Here are the system requirements for BiaB 2017:

Windows®: XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 (32 or 64-bit)
Minimum 1GB RAM (2GB+ recommended)
Minimum 1.0 GHz processor (2GHz+ multicore recommended)
1GB free Hard Disk space for a minimal install (15GB+ recommended)
Pro RealCombos: ~10 GB
MegaPAK RealCombos: ~20 GB
Full UltraPlusPAK or EverythingPAK when installed to internal hard drive: ~90 GB
(another ~80 GB is required for the installation files when downloading the UltraPlusPAK or EverythingPAK)
Please note: Hard Drive versions of the UltraPlusPAK, EverythingPAK or Audiophile Edition do not require any hard disk space when run directly from the external hard drive they are shipped on.
1024x768 screen resolution (1360x768+ recommended)
DVD-ROM drive for shipped versions of the Pro or MegaPAK.
USB port for the UltraPlusPAK, EverythingPAK or Audiophile Edition.
Sound card or MIDI module.
Internet connection recommended for activation and updates.

CPU-wise it looks OK,
Screen resolution-wise it looks OK
Not sure how to interpret disk drive capacity. You need to add your own USB connected drive.
It doesn't seem to have any on-board sound, so separate audio interface/MIDI module might be required.

Certainly packs in a lot of features for the price.

It also have a slot for SD cards up to 128Go so either external drive or if it is possible to load BIAB on tha 128Go SD card it should work

The idea is to run it directly through a X32-Rack Behringer used as an audio card
