Hi Scott!
One of the things I do when I listen to songs here on the showcase is to see if they are easily pigeon-holed into a genre. This is one that doesn't fit neatly into any of my pre-conceived groups. That basically means I see it as being original.
Having said that, I'd have to add that (in my opinion) instrumentals are among the hardest kind of song to write. They typically end up sounding more like a jam session because they lack a true melody. You dodged that bullet by playing a melodic line on your guitar.
But I still can't squish the song into a cubbyhole. If you had to assign it to a genre... what would you say? And why whould you pick that genre over another? Enquiring minds want to know...

well, you sure give it a color here ;-) this is perfect, and the bellpad is the choice for such atmospheric things. The tempo change came as a surprise.
Cool!
Rob & Anne-Marie Thanks Rob and Anne-Marie for checking out the song I appreciate your comments

Nice, Scott.
The backing works great for this - a good "bed" for your guitar. Supportive and never "in the way" of your playing.
A good listen throughout.
fj Thanks Floyd I appreciate your comments.

Hello, Scott
The melody of the beginning repeated many times is very beautiful. Your guitar tone and play are very tasteful as usual. The tempo change that comes as a surprise is very cool. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.

Hey man, this is far out Scott, it's cool, and I can dig it, man. Fly on little wing. The ghost of Jimi was just sitting here in my studio helping me mix something and I asked him if sound can be a color. He blew out a bunch of cigarette smoke under his fedora. And said: "Yeah, man tell Scott I already told him it was purple. Kind of like a haze. Dig it man, he already knows that." But anyway, I really liked this!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol thanks allot David Yes it was Jimi who was being interviewed during the sessions when he recorded All Along the Watch Tower He took so many takes that Noel R quite the band Thanks for taking the time to put together the awesome comments I really appreciate them

Absolutely beautiful! I imagined a lovely lilac colour and rain. It was oddly soothing and had me swaying in my seat. I wasn't expecting it to pick up, but I was glad it did. Nice flashes of magenta sprang in to view when that happened. A+!
I will have to look in to this documentary! Though here's something cool you may not have known: there is a condition called synesthesia that basically causes the senses to overlap. So people can see colours or taste different flavours when they hear sounds, or another example — specific colours have flavours! It's a rather fascinating condition that many actually consider a gift. It inspires lots of people to become musicians and artists all around the world.
Thanks for sharing! Thanks Ember for checking out the song. That's interesting your comments in the synethesia condition I think Jimi's condition came from the ingredients in the sugar cube or blotter paper he had ingested. :-) . I when I play when everything is set right the music to me has a shape When I try to describe it the notes feel 3 dimensional and round Not flat with an edge to it

Nice interesting piece Scott! The tone on the guitar works really well with the ambiance created by the backtrack. The tempo change was a good idea! Thanks, Torrey

Pleasant listen. The change in tempo was effective in making more... colorful. Thanks David for checking out the song. I have been experimenting with the BIAB features and am amazing what a bullet proof program this is. Sure helps the song development

Well given the number of light shows I saw in the 60's I'd say YES.
Lot of things to like here...as always your playing and tone and as already mentioned the tempo changes brought a lot to it.
Steve used the word "tasteful" and that can always be applied to your productions. We'll throw in "classy" also.
Enjoyed the spins!
J&B Thanks Janice and Bud for checking our the song. Yes the garage bands from my high school days had huge arrays of different colored flood lights all switching off and on to the tempo of the music. Took the music to different levels. volume helped allot too. :-)

Hi Pat thanks so much for checking out the song. I do enjoy reading your posts on the songs on the forum. You have a very cool insight regarding the songs you comment on. A few years ago I had posted a song called Winters Chill and was very nervous as to how it was going to be received. The music I purchase and listen to is not very close to the music I create. When I start a song I have no idea what is going to be when finished. After I had finished a few songs I came up with the conclusion that my music was "Elevator music". Floyd very kindly commented that he did not think it was Elevator music more like chilling music. One forum member say it was New Age Music. I did not know what that was and had to look it up. I think it maybe my love for pretty much all genres of music is where some of my melodies come from and how the genre lines get blurred. After the back track is finished following the rhythm of the drums and the bass lines they seem to pop out.

Scott,
I'd have to agree with Floyd's description of your music. My idea of "elevator music" is cheesy MIDI renditions of well known cover songs, which doesn't describe your music at all. NEW AGE is probably closer to what you do, but it tends to be more synthetic and orchestral than the songs you create.
If there isn't already a genre called CHILLIN' then there needs to be.

an extraordinary guitar player from the late 60's he talked about music being full of colors ............Yeah, remember Scott, there was a lot of acid going around in the 60's! This is really sweet!! Beautiful tone and beautiful melody, and you chose the perfect backing band. Great job!! Take care. Greg

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
