Start with a "blank canvas" and set it up as I usually would, i.e. correct panning, volumes, number of bars (I use 200) and number of choruses (I use 1). I usually set the volumes to 90 & the tempo to 120.
I then save it as "000A Setup" so that it appears at the top of my song list when I open it. I've done a similar workaround in the past, but I write-protect the file. That way I'm forced to do a "save-as" and not inadvertently overwrite my "template". That also lets you double click on the file from Windows Explorer and automatically load it. However, a better solution would be to allow saving various selectable configurations, with one of them specified as the default (that you can change).
